Key points

- Japan and Taiwan to provide the technology

- 1,560 km North/South railway

- top Speed 350 kmh

- total cost about $60 billion

- 5h 20m travel time no stop at stations

- 6h 55m with all stops inbetween

- 13,770 workers are required

- the budget comes 80 percent from the government, 20 percent from private

So it’s decided Shinkansen is selected.
The project would be completed in 2050. A generation undertaking. So it would take incredible 40 years. Unless the economy takes off with 10 percent growth rate or we found a gold mine in VN somewhere, the HSR can be complete in 10 or 20 years.

. . .
Japan test runs have gone above 400km/h in the 1990s. Operationally does not go that high for a number of reasons like noise from going in and out of tunnels, distance between stations, and schedule. Shinkansen trains are very numourous and run like every 5 to 10 minutes on the same track.

Japan and Taiwan companies cooperate on IoT so it could be Taiwan companies putting that stuff into the trains to get them nicely networked would be my guess.

Although Japan and Taiwan are cooperating in train tourism, painting some of each other's trains to look like that of the other country. Maybe Taiwan acquired some train tech from Japan and now work together with Japan. Is interesting.

You know there is no HSR project running in Vn right now, because your Ministry still trying to submit pre feasibility study for further planning, its still in infant stage not even in feasibility study.

You should put the whole articles right now

Pre-feasibility study of high-speed railway project submitted to PM

Last update: 14:05 | 28/02/2019

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The has submitted a pre-feasibility study report for a North-South high speed railway project to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

This is one of the important projects of the nation, which was decided by the National Assembly on the investment policy and approved by the PM on investment grant.

Accordingly, the total length of the railway is about 1,560 km, running along the North-South corridor, going through 20 localities, connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Of the total, the 14-km section in Hanoi shares the infrastructure with the Hanoi urban railway No. 1 (from Hanoi station to Ngoc Hoi station), and the remaining connects Ngoc Hoi station to Thu Thiem station, with 27 stations, five depots, and 42 infrastructure maintenance facilities.

It is designed for passenger trains to run with a maximum speed of 350km/hour.

The first phase of the project has a total investment of 561.6 trillion VND (about 24.71 billion USD), while the second costs 772.6 trillion VND.

The whole project is scheduled to be completed in 2050.

Regarding the investment sources, the report proposes the State to invest about 80- percent of the total, while the remaining 20 percent will be private capital.

According to an analysis by the research consultancy unit, this ratio creates the feasibility of financial efficiency.

The technology to be applied will be of Japan and Taiwan (China).

When commissioned, it will take 5 hours and 20 minutes for the train to run from Hanoi to HCM city if it does not stop at some stations and about 6 hours and 55 minutes if it stops at all stations along the track route.

Regarding human resources, the project needs about 13,770 workers with different professions.

If the report is approved by the NA, the Ministry of Transport will prepare to research the establishment of a railway academy or build plans to satisfy the requirements.

The investment plan of the project is expected to be passed by the NA at its meeting in the end of 2019.-VNA

Wrong. The previously (from Japan government sponsored) study was completed in 2013. The new one is probably just modified here and there a bit. The study redux is just submitted to the prime minister office for approval as per article. The only thing that is new is including Taiwan and more time for completion. Probably because to ease financial burden.

Here the complete study 2013

Lol, your country had more times to conduct more and more Study, just big talk and no action.

We'll see. HSR tends to take awhile to get started and there are a number of examples of delays. Whenever Vietnam is ready.

.
Japan dont have tech to build 350km/h HSR. Only China has, the fastest HSR in operation. I am not talking about Maglev Train.
Can be but unlike Japan, Vietnam territory is long stretched. HSR can accelerate to 350 kmh.

The plan is followed: now the Prime Minister has to approve the plan. Once approved, the plan will be submitted to the parliament for approval that’s expected for end of this year. Once approved and funds allocated, construction can start next year in best scenario. as Vietnam is a one party state, it is 99,99 percent likelyhood that HSR is coming.

That's exciting news. Strong party control is OK for getting the economy rolling. I seem to recall that the HSR plan was cancelled last time because of a cap in acceptable debt level. But that was a few years ago. Acceptable debt level ceiling might have enough space to fit in the HSR project this time.

China test runs is 486km/h but kept at 350km/h. No HSR can sustain full top speed for operation ride. Its useless to talk about test run speed. First prove your HSR can sustain 400km/h for operation speed before come here and talk again.

If Vietnam is confident about it, then that's enough. They are the buyer.
