Missile boat can hardly survive in modern wars..
With modern anti-missile system and helicopter, these missile boat is less effective against modern fleet...
Of course if you are one ship vs another ship, it is still not a bad option

maybe that's why it has 16 Switchblades, fire in slavos of 2 or 4 pretty sure one or more will get through

for the price I think it's a good move for Vietnam. not everybody can afford the latest Destroyers

Can vietnam warship guided all 16 missiles to one target is a question.

During Arab Israel war. Egypt fired 67 Stynx missile and none of them hits Israel warship. Given China high investment in ECM war, things favour China.

Molniya was created to be able sinking much bigger warship by upto 16 switchblades, launched at once. And run.
And you may realize that they make 2 Molniya at the same time, 32 missile, equal a round of Bal-E system.

So Molniya boats are extended arms of Bal-E mobile system in the sea.

it is a bit funny. the author writes America decides to send a message to all parties, NO not to nuke China, but the South China Sea with a series of small nukes carried out by strategic submarines. these small devices cause massive waves and disrupt all navies operating in the region, ending the naval conflict in the east and south china sea.

not sure, if any fish will survive after such nuclear bombs explosions

very realistic: there is a section in the novel telling the battle in the spratlys between vietnamese and chinese warships.

a vietnamese task group consisting of gepards, molniyas and transporter ships carrying supersonic antiship missile yahkonts launch a surprise attack on chinese landing task group, consisting of destroyers, frigates, troop transporters. very ugly outcome after the exchange of fire. both sides suffer heftig casualties. with chinese lost more in the battle.
