It's not just an issue of funding in of itself, but Pakistan's lack of ability to make itself a better deal than India.

There are 'similarly structured' economies out there that are able to buy from France on credit lines, e.g. Egypt. However, Egypt doesn't have India as its neighbour, and its potential foe (i.e. Israel) is itself an aid recipient, so it doesn't as have much of a say on whether others choose to sell Egypt et. al equipment or not.

When I had asked some PAF people why the PAF wasn't getting 'X' or 'Y' (I have to keep this secret), they simply said, "We asked A for it, they said "No"" and "When we were negotiating with B, they said the gov't told them to stop the process." Whether it is India or the US, Pakistan's supply channels are have been squeezed quite a bit, and the only suppliers remaining are those governments willing to deal with Pakistan - e.g. China, Turkey, South Africa, Ukraine, etc. However, even their engagement is of varying degrees, probably China is the only one where standard and sensitive technology is both available, others are largely restricted to standard.

All that said, funding is also a problem. It's not so much that Pakistan is unable to generate it (it can), but societal corruption and incompetence, especially at the top, is a massive cost. Pakistan's financial situation is basically that of a father of four with three ex-wives, each claiming child support, and a bank mortgage still on the docket and never going away. Except in Pakistan's case, the enforcement maintaining the injustice is mostly Pakistan itself.

The sunny side of the egg is, China is one of the most advanced countries when it comes to sensitive tech, leaving Us and Russia aside, no other country can now match China's advancement in defence tech. Havimg them completely in our corner is a big advantage as the Us really never did provide us with "sensitive tech", the thing is the motto of the day seems to be A said No and B blamed the govt for refusal and than we go to C and develop what A and B refused with C's help.

We are famous for hiding things until the very day we reveal them, like for instance our MALE UAV program, out of the blue the ACM recently revealed its existance and said it would be ready by the end of the year when no one knew it was going on. Azm's announcement doesnt mean we just started the programe, work on it might have been going on for more than 5-6 yrs ago.

PAF has more training exercises with nations then the IAF you need to do some homework , plus one can not compare the two forces given the budget, resources, man power and modern aircraft the IAF is for sure done well for its self. PAF is well on its way to be a better and more advanced AF then it is at the present time or ever was times have changed and so has the neighborhood also do some homework on that. Finally PAF is a defensive force and will and shall remain that however, in case of war the tables can turn with a truly dangerous punch don't ever doubt that for a second.

We need to change our defensive doctrine especially regarding PAF, during 1965 we do have limited offensive capability and doctrine and that is why we dominate air war but unfortunatly we / PAF adopted defensive policy due to budget. Resources, sanctions and political reasons (some former air chiefs went nuts over so called P.A's adventures and they decided not to provide P.A that much air support so that they could not do anything without their knowledge and unfortunately later PAF chiefs carried same policies in the name of budget).

Now a days we / PAF don't have any planes to induct even air superiority / long range fighters...a sad reality....

You want underground bases

I hear India has two huge bases underground in north at hindon and trishul airbase in Raj as than .

I heard each base can hide over 100 planes
I suspect it takes serious money though

I think its a grand idea to start a fund by civilians to buy military hardware. Atleast it will lend a helping hand to defence forces.

JFT is always seen hanging Two or Three fuel tanks,meaning out of 7 hardpoints 3 very important or consumed,out of Around 4000kg Payload 2400 or 1600 is occupied by External Fuel,what it would do in that Profile?
If It's Production starts without integration of HMDS,HOBS Missile,AESA and solution of lack of internal fuel,then it's a failure,remember we have to replace 250 Aircrafts.
Pak Acquired HQ 16 and the next year showed it.
He announced without even showing a Mockup Model.
India Mere Bahi on the other hand has even today,got almost 350+ 4th Gen Fighters,backed by 400+ Mig21,27 and Jags.
We are really doing a huge mistake by neglecting our defence and feeding these Political Bastards.

Weight of 1 PL-5E II -> 83 kg
Weight of 1 SD-10 -> 180 kg
2 PL-5E II + 4 SD-10 (dual racked) = 2 * 83 + 4 * 180 = 886 kg.

That still leaves 4000 - 2400 - 886 = 714 kg for a chin mounted EW pod. The Thunder is Alhamdulillah a mean killing machine.
