Very sad if India boycotted London Olympics: British PM

Why always its about Indian sportsmanship.

Is it British sportmanship to take sponsorship from a company responsible for wrong killings of bhopal people and more than that they even did not give compensation, just ran away.

India should boycott the games.

Why this sudden spurt of jingoism my Indian friends.

What has got into this government?Does Government think that waving its dick in public would make for a good spectacle? Or is it following the age old adage that nationalism is refuge of weak?

And regarding Bhopal. The company did not ran away.It provided agreed upon lumpsum compensation to GoI.If government accepted the compensation which was lower than it's expectation,It is GoI's fault not of anyone else.

And Bhopal happened 28 years ago.Boycotting Olympics for that reason is zenith of stupidity.

India would be missed for one there is 2 million Indians living in UK, but in my view they should attend the games but perhaps protest while taking part like the black power movement did.
Bhopal is a case study which is taught in UK universities people know right from wrong but the Indian goverment were no saints they led the main culprit walk free.

DOW operates in India and according to their website have sales of around 500 million. What GoI has to say about this?

Dow took over from US-based company Union Carbide but that is all not here or there we had the main culprit in our hands when the incident took place and what we do? we sent him on the plane to USA so how can we complain?

This murdering yankee bastard should have been executed for mass murder but we let him go and now we want to make a case after all these years.

Exactly..so someone should call this bluff and show GoI the mirror but I don't anyone will be willing to do that as it will be politically incorrect. But kudos to Congress. They have committed blunders after blunders in the past but still gets away with it while BJP still have to carry around the stigma of Gujurat.

Why??????

Bhopal tragedy was an accident that was caused due to negligence in maintainence. And this guy was CEO of the company.

If we apply this logic than railway minister should be executed for every railway accident as the ministry works under him.

Have you read about the bhopal incident? this chap was responsible for the mass murder as he was heading the project at the time and the blame lies at the top.

UCC Chairman, CEO Warren Anderson was arrested and released on bail by the Madhya Pradesh Police in Bhopal on December 7, 1984. The arrest, which took place at the airport, ensured Anderson would meet no harm by the Bhopal community. Anderson was taken to UCC's house after which he was released six hours later on $2,100 bail and flown out on a government plane. In 1987, the Indian government summoned Anderson, eight other executives and two company affiliates with homicide charges to appear in Indian court.[53] Union Carbide balked, saying the company is not under Indian jurisdiction.[53]

In 1991, the local Bhopal authorities charged Anderson, who had retired in 1986, with manslaughter, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. He was declared a fugitive from justice by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bhopal on February 1, 1992, for failing to appear at the court hearings in a culpable homicide case in which he was named the chief defendant. Orders were passed to the Government of India to press for an extradition from the United States.

The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of the decision of the lower federal courts in October 1993, meaning that victims of the Bhopal disaster could not seek damages in a US court.[49]

The fault lies at the top and he should have been given the death sentence for it.

Thats what anonymous is saying..lets execute Railway Minister for the various railway related accidents as clearly fault lies at the top.

He should have been given to the people of Bhopal to make mince meat out of him but instead we sent him on a plane back so he will never answer questions in a Indian court what justice :disagree:

No,Only moral responsibility lies on top not legal responsibility.

By this logic president should be executed everytime there a government vehical runs over someone as in our constitution ultimate executive authority lies with president.

You cant compare a rail accident to Bhopal which is the worse industrial incident the world has ever seen.

Your logic is twisted if a goverment motor vehicle runs over someone the fault lies with the driver, have you heard of the Rupert Murdoch case in UK? did he not have to face a investigation and answer questions in UK? when he is a Australian national.

You cant compare a rail accident to Bhopal which is the worse industrial incident the world has ever seen.

So?? In India 100,000 people die every year in road accidents many of which is caused by bad roads..lets execute the minister for land transport.

Yo

But I don't think he have to face jail or worse execution.

Your logic is twisted bad roads can be found everywhere incidents like Bhopal do not happen everyday :disagree:

So what is GoI (the same Congress that let him go) whining about.

Yes you can.

If you apply laws of justice to the situation,it is intent which matters not the death toll. You can't ask for death sentence for accident just because lot of people died in it.

No court worth it's salt takes the law of extrapolated responsibilities in account. If andersson has criminal responsibility because he was CEO that can't responsibility be attributed to government who allowed that plant to be constructed and don't it lie on those inspectors of civil works department who okayed that plant to run.

I don't have vested interest in defending andersson.but what you are demanding here is public lynching not justice.
