Valentine’s Day Celebrations Banned All Across Pakistan: IHC

Really don't see an issue with Valentine's day
Absolutely fantastic festival
Folks who feel this is the immediate threat , may be they should stay away from good quality Chocolate
Really folks this is not an issue

Some families in Pakistan stopped sending their daughters/sisters to school/colleges since they suspected fraternization with boys. Now if some girls receive flowers chocalates from a random boy they could be killed in honor killings. You don't know the ground reality of Pakistan.

When west in Ban Islamic festivals all these people who are supporting this ban (as is it not native) chati peet peet ke royengey and zulm zulm chillayengey . Anyways their country their rules.

Last time I checked the Hinduvta organizations were also protesting Valentines Day celebrations in India. May be you should first ban Hindu festivals in India before pontificating Pakistan

During Sir Syed's Ahmed's Time (1800) Muslims were told not to go learn english , hell I must be breaking some rules since I am typing in English.

It takes time for people to adjust to new social norms. My grandmother's generation wore veils but my mothers generation did not. May be in 15+ years when my generation will have teenage children most of us will be open minded.

.
it is easier said than done, we are talking about real life here my friend, reality doesn't give you a remote control to change the 'channels' that we don't like. Once again i am not telling anyone what to do, you have the right to disagree with me but don't just claim that i am forcing my view on people.
Simply look away you have a right to feel uncomfortable but you have no right to tell then what they cant do

.
So if Boy will be killed for giving boy a Chocolate box or flower how do the parents intend to get their girls married , are they planning some forced marriges ?

Seems to me like problem is with the idea of killing the poor kid for giving a box of chocolate or post card

By the way can someone explain the act of proposal in Muslim culture which is discussed in many of our Hadith books how the process of giving a gift to girl and ask her hand in marrige

:) I don't know you know me , I read out hadith books and see comments about people giving some sort of gift for sake of proposal

Note: You can search the webpage for hadith number to get to the correct listing

Below is from Sahih Al Bukhari
Muhammad bin Salamah said: “I proposed marriage to a woman, then I hid and waited to see her until I saw her among some date palm trees that belonged to her.” It was said to him: “Do you do such a thing when you are a companion of the Messenger of Allah?” He said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: 'When Allah causes a man to propose to a woman, there is nothing wrong with him looking at her.' ”

English reference
Vol. 3, Book 9, Hadith 1864
Arabic reference : Book 9, Hadith 1937

https://www.sunnah.com/urn/1261820

So what if someone gives a box of chocolate ? He will eventually propose

Will folks in Pakistan kill the poor boy ?

Now here is a really facinating Hadith

https://sunnah.com/bukhari/51
Narrated `Aisha:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to accept gifts and used to give something in return.

Reference

Sahih al-Bukhari 2585
In-book reference : Book 51, Hadith 19

Narrated Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah:
It was narrated that Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah said: "I proposed marriage to a woman during the time of the Messenger of Allah, and the Prophet said: 'Have you seen her?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'Look at her, for that is more likely to create love between you.'"

https://sunnah.com/nasai/26

Reference

Sunan an-Nasa'i 3235
In-book reference : Book 26, Hadith 40

One last facinating share , for folks who claim others are outside of religion
what does this line gives one lesson about ? Don't judge others !!!!

"Two men recited a Tashahhud before the Prophet and one of them said: 'Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has been guided aright and whoever disobeys them has gone astray.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'What a bad speaker you are!'"

https://sunnah.com/nasai/26
Reference
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3279
In-book reference : Book 26, Hadith 84

Meanwhile our courts does not even allow us to exchange box of chocolate :o:
Yahan to , box of chocolate per hai , kill ker dainge proposal tak to bat hi na pohche gi

Flying is a Western invention, and not a Muslim tradition,
yet Pakistan Air Force is doing just that.
Will there be a Fatwa vs JF-17?

That's the dumbest comment I've read...and we have indians commenting here.

"flying" isn't "western tradition"...

That's like saying "Oh, interest in space exploration is Western tradition" or "Algebra is Arab tradition" LOL!!! Human flight was a point of interest for humanity for centuries---Chinese, Arabs, Muslims, and Europeans talked about it, tried, and looked into space with awe and sought to find ways for human flight.

Wright brothers just did it the first time.

When somebody say "it's not our tradition"...they mean things that are social traditions of another culture deem inferior by one culture, and hence not reciprocated.

Majority of western culture is fundamentally inferior to Muslim social culture, and hence we don't want out-of-wedlocks, premarital sex, whoring by our young girls as neccessary hobby of teenage/young girls, rampant alcoholism in our boys, and fall of marriage and rise of divorce.

So yes, Valentines day is something we don't comfortable with and 99% of our society doesn't feel any affiliation for it. So banning it is a good sign :)

You can continue to celebrate it though. Nobody cares!

LAHORE – In a bid to prevent ‘sin’ ahead of Valentine’s Day, police in Lahore’s Shahdara area on Friday arrested a married couple on the charges of adultery.

The husband and wife, Nasir Hussain and Saima Nasir, were arrested after the police raided their home and were produced before the Judicial Magistrate after facing charges of adultery.

However, the accused’s lawyer produced the ID cards of the married couple as an evidence and stated that the police conducted the raid to avenge the personal enmity.

The lawyer further alleged that the police tortured the naked pair throughout the night.

The judicial magistrate Imtiaz Ahmed Bajwa quashed the case against the married couple and grilled the DIG operations over the extremely impetuous and unnecessary actions against the innocent couple. The magistrate ordered the DIG operations to reconsider and monitor the performance of his subordinate officers.

The magistrate went on to say that the police had violated personal privacy of the citizens and trespassed on their home without any warrant. He said it was unethical that the police squad didn’t take any female police officer with them.

The vigilant Punjab police, ahead of Valentine’s Day, has started taking several measures to prevent the “immoral activities” and violation of ‘Islamic laws’ in the city.

Last year, the government had officially banned the celebration of Valentine’s Day. The debate even made it to the parliament followed by stringent actions including the deployment of more police officials on roads and banning of public parties.

I am thankfully married
But I am talking for the general young man.

Okay sorry for that comment I thought you were 18 year old horny boy :D

Talking like .....so you don't have hands shows you have no idea how to get a job in pakistan.
Pay starting salary maybe 15 or at best 20 thousand. Can you get married on that. Where will you live....with mummy. Downey. I could go on.
I am not against what the guy said about not v celebrating valentines day as I don't but you cannot force people.
Regarding groping and raping well that happens in societies where there is ban on all sexually activity.

So when you decide to argue look at what I wrote before going off at a tangent

I have no problems with it because I never cared never celebrated but I won't support advocating any event that would create a social evil to replace another social evil, it is never a good idea.

You can get married anytime if you want to. But making marriage conditional would always entail problems.

And men giving gifts to women they love is not?

Does/Did "Tomten" go around giving gifts? That may be your Sinterklaas influence.
Yes, "Tomten" was not handing out gifts.

That is a stupid comment ! What about Indian parents that abort female fetuses and eant only sons. Now in India there are more boys and not enough girls to marry. Pakistani society needs a generation to to accept Valentines day. Instead of buying flowers and chocalates why dont they feed poor people it would be better sentiment.

Asalam u alyqum bro

I have posted further as to why I think we shouldn't ban such trivial issue but focus on things that really matter.
Example....if you teach people not to lie and focus on it almost every crime will be eradicated. From corruption to poor governance. But our courts assist in lying as every lawyers job is to twist and turn.
When you ban things like this it simply goes underground but happens even more. Educate the people instead of banning it. When Islam spread its didn't ban everything. Even today slavery is allowed but by education its really frowned upon and freeing a slave is a huge reward in front of Allah

Walaikum salam!

Hmmmm I get your point now. Maturity is the key, our society is well our society.

Valentine's day is imposition of foreign culture on our land. Valentine day isn't part of our traditional culture and every country has a right to take steps to protect its indigenous culture from more powerful, foreign, and often colonial cultural constructions.

Switzerland banned Mosques' minarets because it made their 'skylines' unpleasant. But these sell out liberal scums would want to make us believe that protecting your indigenous culture and pride is wrong and we should just "let people love."

Nobody is stopping people from loving---we are just stopping the foreignization and dilution of our culture by foreign, often Western, influences.

.
Other day I was sad when Israel passed a bill to stop saying Azdhans and WHAT we doing not less than Jews. Our pesdo left wing start cry and posting filth on actions of ban Hijab ban burqa ban Adhans in west even in China and hypocrites feels good when we ban someone other religious festival. Pathetic

Problem is that we are a declared Islamic Republic so should we allow open celebrations of such things whose main concept and past history is totally against Islam? On the contrary being an Islamic state have we ever banned Church Bells being rang or prevented Hindus to celebrate Holi etc and list goes on. Comparing baning of Azan with banning of V day hold no common ground as former is part of Religion while later is sort of practice being done but has got no Religious value. If we proceed by this way then one day we would be hearing strong voices to give rights to Gays and Lesbians too and list goes on.

.
I find it funny that the most of ultra conservative members commented here are in fact living off in some of the most liberal democracies around the world like Britain, US, Canada and Sweden, While most of those in Pakistan itself have way more moderate views.. Ironic
