USS Gridley, a destroyer class vessel of the US navy, arrived in Goa on Thursday for a routine port visit while transiting the Indian ocean.While in port, Gridleys sailors will participate in professional exchanges with Indian naval officers and sailors as well as a sports day and a community relations event with the Don Bosco oratory. The US has many common interests with India including mutual security, the prosperity of our people and the promotion of freedom and democracy, said commander Gadala Rick Kratzer, commanding officer, USS Gridley. Commissioned in 2007, Gridley is home-ported in San Diego, California, and is on a routine deployment through the western pacific and Indian oceans. It also carries two SH-60 Bravo Seahawk helicopters in its fold.
