The only thing constant in this world is change. I catch the primitive instinctual part of my brain has a strange reaction to seeing Japanese sailors lined up on a deck on the way to a mission in Pearl Harbor.

Luckily we have evolved the ability to reason and can override once-necessary defensive tools with rational thought.

Due to the players involved, I find this even more interesting than Red Flag, and wish I was in Hawaii to witness it!

Seeing the top 3 world economies working together is a powerful sight.

I can understand. I , too, am happy to see the inclusion of China in this awesome annual naval exercise.

Before M370 plane crash, China official plan to hole 2013 QingDao Navy Show they invited many nations including U.S but not Japan. Yes U.S refused to attend it later, and China cancelled the Show official gave the reason due to Navy joint M370 search.

Why Vietnam Navy didn't join QingDao Navy Show or RIMPAC 2014 ? Coz the host nation didn't invite u, without invitation how can u join party?

Vietnam and USA cooperated so well that USA would know whether Vietnam could send the ships to RIMPAC or not before making the official invitation. That avoids a refusal.

A good opportunity to train with the best in the business. I expect our sailors & ships to be in tip-top condition. All eyes will be watching.

That's INS Sahyadri, which is a Shivalik class frigate. INS Shivalik is F47. These are the largest warships built in India, to be surpassed by INS Kolkatta to be commissioned hopefully in July.

Thank you for the correction! We will hopefully see more in the coming days. Most of these captions will be from US and Chinese defense-media sources, which no doubt will not be 100% accurate in their labeling of photos. Gosh. Its an invitation. Is just that. An invitation. Its up to the inviting party to invite whoever they want. And it is also up to the country invited to decide if they want to attend or not to attend.

Don't they teach you Confucianism. The host invite and will be a good host. If the guest cannot come the host will accept it. If the guest attend he should be a good guest.
