Medals can be given only to increase motivation level of members and to develop healthy competion for their better performance .

Promotions on basis personal relations and links should be discouraged.

Do not worry my friend, there are no promotions to TT, MP or Moderation team based on any relations and links.
Otherwise the quality would have hit the gutters long time ago.

I think any step to reward good poster behavior etc. is one in the right direction, it will help reduce the flame wars.

Anything to motivate people into improving their standard is a good thing but one has to realize that moderation is a big job and to give such awards will require an analysis of many posters which is a very tough thing to do.
