US tracking 250-270 objects from Indian ASAT test debris - Pentagon

. . .
i think india has wrongly carried out test and debris is much dispersed due to incapability of indians they should have selected small dummy satellite for test whose destruction may not result in much debris to risk other working satellites

****Not quoting anyone as I am not actively participating in discussion due to lack of time. But, providing the relevant information available from authentic sources.

India said that it had intentionally carried out its 'Mission Shakti' test in the lower atmosphere - at an altitude of 300km (186 miles) - to ensure that there was no debris and that whatever was left would "decay and fall back onto the earth within weeks; "That's why we did it at lower altitude, it will vanish in no time," G Satheesh Reddy, the chief of India's Defence Research and Development Organisation, told Reuters in an interview.

China's 2007 test - which destroyed a defunct weather satellite at an altitude of 865km - left a large debris cloud in orbit.

RemoveDebris: UK satellite nets 'space junk'

A British satellite has successfully deployed a net in orbit to demonstrate how to capture space debris.

The event took place more than 300km above the Earth.

It was part of a series of trials that will showcase different technologies to remove the redundant hardware now circling the Earth.

Where do you pull these facts out of? Microsat-R, too my knowledge is of similar weight to Fengyun-1C, the satellite Chinese ASAT targeted and lower to the US one. Do consider that the Indian satellite was intercepted at a much lower altitude.
