The US continues its unprincipled pragmatism, which does not even stick to the agreements it has signed. The most unreliable country in the world.

From my pov, China is not ready right now. But time is running in China's favour. In 5-10 years, China will catch up with the USA in every sense. The Air Force will largely complete the transition to the 5th generation. Economically, China is still growing.

The US seems to have aimed at two things.
1. To provoke China to act early, as it cannot prevent the inevitable.
2. To intimidate other countries that try to turn to China by eroding China's political power. The propaganda rhetoric that has already emerged is that China cannot limit the US even in Taiwan, could this China protecting you?

Personally, I am on the side of China in the struggle between China and the USA. Therefore, I would not want them to make the same mistake as Russia. I believe that policy makers in China also see these pitfalls.

A lot of what you said are not true. Face is important but we all have seen China has put national interests on top of face every time dealing with India, US, Soviet Union, Japan, UK etc. For example, if face is all important, China would have confronted Nancy's jet. But we didn't see China deploying warships including aircraft carriers in the east, south, and north of Taiwan. Only two smaller warships were on the north-east when Nancy was flying into Taiwan.
