US Stinger missile possibly brought down Malaysian aircraft: Rodney Martin
American political commentator Rodney Martin says it is likely that a US-made anti-aircraft missile Stinger has brought down the Malaysia Airlines aircraft in eastern Ukraine last week.
On July 17, the Boeing 777-200 passenger plane crashed in Ukraine’s conflict zone, killing all 298 people aboard. According to US intelligence and military officials, the plane was hit by a Russian SA-series missile launched from eastern Ukraine.
However, according to a report published on Tuesday, senior US intelligence officials say they have no evidence of direct Russian government involvement in the shooting down of the Malaysia Airlines MH17.
“It is not unreasonable to believe that a Ukrainian special operations unit had penetrated the eastern region of Ukraine with a Stinger missile and shot down that civilian airliner. Ukraine still had operational control over the airspace of all of Ukraine, including eastern Ukraine,” said Martin, who is the director of the World View Foundations, a website, and a host at the American Nationalist Network, an internet radio station.
“So the story this morning that there’s no real incredible evidence as to what shot down that plane and who shot down that plane is not surprising,” he told Press TV in a phone interview on Wednesday.
“Now the real story is that will not make major headlines in the US media because the United States government on behalf of its puppets in Kiev wants to advance this narrative of a new Cold War where Russia is the new bogyman because this terrorism bogyman is wearing thin,” Martin added.
“So they want to create new narrative where Putin is the new Stalin and the new Soviet Union, and they have to create this new east-west polarization so they can continue this nonsensical polarization and creation of spheres,” he continued.
“We had the United Sates versus the Soviet Union but there was no Soviet Union, so they had to create another bogyman -- so it was the United States versus terrorism, which was essentially undefined. And now that’s worn thin, so they had to recreate the evil Russia, the evil Soviet. So they’re repackaging East versus West again, and this is part of the packaging – the Hollywood has already created TV serial where the Russians is the villain,” noted Martin, who also served for a time on the staff of a US congressman assigned to Military and Veteran Issues.
The United States and Russia are at loggerheads over Crimea, with Washington accusing Moscow of orchestrating an “illegitimate referendum to annex Crimea" and fuelling unrest in eastern Ukraine.
Moscow has dismissed as "nonsense" claims that Russian special forces are fomenting unrest in Ukraine.
The government in Kiev is currently engaged in an all-out offensive against pro-Russian activists in the eastern regions of the country, which has some similarities with the plan of a RAND Corporation memo.
The memo, which was leaked earlier this month, revealed that the US government-funded think tank advised the Ukrainian government to engage in an all-out war in the east, including placing citizens in internment camps and killing all who resist government actions.
