TEHRAN – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, during a telephone conversation with Afghan President Hamid Karzai late on Monday, said that the enemies do not want friendship and brotherhood to prevail in the region.

During the conversation, Ahmadinejad once again offered his condolences to the Afghan nation and government over the martyrdom of former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani, who was assassinated inside his home in Kabul on September 20.

“Rabbani’s assassination indicated that the enemies never want an atmosphere of calm to pervade in the region,” Ahmadinejad stated.

“The enemies committed a great crime by assassinating this faithful and conscientious person,” he said, adding, “We should help soothe the hurt feelings of the Afghan nation.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president called on regional nations to be vigilant about the enemies’ plots and help create an atmosphere of understanding among regional countries.

He went on to say that holding regular negotiations between Iranian, Afghan, and Pakistani officials will help achieve this goal.

Karzai thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for providing moral support to the Afghan people in hard times.

He also said, “Afghanistan always supports long-lasting peace and security in the region because it believes that it is in the interests of regional countries, and (holding) trilateral meetings between Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan is an important issue,” which would help strengthen friendship among these countries.

India thinks they will play the major powers against each other to milk maximum benefit. Maybe they can pull it off. Who knows?

People who stand in the middle of the road usually get run over lol

I hope what you say is correct. We do need our leaders to resolve our problems and no american interference
if you has just cause, independence, self-control. you can do any job and you need not have to see what attitude the other

.
Indian politicians are a lot smarter than the feudal paindoos running our show.

Credit where credit is due.

just had second thoughts after giving you a thank you lol give me a break yaar it doesnt take much to be more honest sharper or cleverer than the likes of Zardari and his jokers like rehman malik

Reality check: India and US are allies against Pakistan/China.

The US realized its geopolitical plan to install India in Afghanistan is not workable. Hence Plan B: Fake overtures of friendship from India to weaken the Pak-China alliance.

Pakistan is handling it surprisingly well. Returning India's smile, while knowing full well that India is holding a dagger in the other.

These two statements seem a bit contradictory?

Either America is playing India, or India is playing America by pretending to be a counter weight to China in this region. So which is it? Cause it can't be both.

As I have said earlier, India is too big a player to be used as a pawn.

India does what India wants, though I don't personally like some decisions, I am mighty proud of our diplomats and decision makers.

It was Pakistan who brought them here in the first place so it will have to be Pakistan who have to kick them out of the region as well.As far as I can recall, there is no American presence in either China or India.

Everything else will follow in due time but prepare for a fight cuz Yanks don't take rejection all too well...

Mate I agree pakistan were wrong to cooperate with americans

That is not the only mistake.......

aww give it a rest. we are having a discussion that we would be better without interference from western powers in our neighbourhood not a pakistani bashing session no matter how much you would like one. Your democracy hasnt delivered what the people want either ie hazare and protests. An italian air hostess has more weight and her opinion matters more than an average indians. So stick to the topic we dont need reminders of mistakes or other problems that pakistan or india have. Outside interference wouldd mean one less problem.

Fact of the matter is;while the United States outsourced it's jobs to India, she outsourced a full-time war to Pakistan. At the horizon after all the backstabbing and damage that came from both sides,I really don't think there still remains a diplomatic resolution for either party.Cut your losses and make a mad dash while you can Pakistan(if you can).

Hey, AB, forget what someone just said on the status of Indo-US relations, it is fashionable for Pakistanis to call us American lackeys, it somehow justifies their own status and mitigates the unenviable position they find themselves in. The justification for this claim is supposedly the Indo-US nuclear deal which has not yet been operationalised despite lapse of several years. Tell me how many nuclear reactors has America started building in India yet? By calling India an US ally, Pakistan justifies its move to the Chinese camp. Pakistan has the right to align itself with whoever it wants, no one denies that, but there exists this common misconception about India's strategic alignments.

On topic. Yes, there are certain areas where Indian and American interests converge. In these areas we may coordinate and consult with the Americans in a manner that enhances our national interests. There are other areas where our stands are divergent and in these areas we take decisions solely keeping our national interests in mind. Sometimes those decisions may annoy others, but that is the way it is. Having a peaceful neighborhood is in India's greatest interests. Will India want America to invade Pakistan - No. Just as we did not support the 'No fly Zone' against Libya and we will not support any future invasion of Syria or Iran.

Seeing posts from Indians like you pleases me and fills me with hope that common sense will prevail
