Patriotism has no other meanings other than doing right thing for your country, in the sense of wisest choice and not in the sense of any bravado. Patriotism is not about false pride or any such thing we usually consider it to be. However we do have to take pride in what we are, Pakistanis (or you as an Indian), accept it, and do the best we can. Which means disavowing bad/wrong things in our society and never take pride in being evil.
all I was pointing was it is a continuation of policy of successive govts and our foreign policy rarely changes overnight(without having a broad agreement with opposition parties)
we dont need it and its againt what Indians want. I dont think japanese or koreans are any less patriotic than us, their situation is different.

A typical american selfish behaviour. After the humiliating defeat from the hands of taliban in the region now they are looking for another Pak-india adventure.First use then throw it away.I hope indians will realize the consequences of being the partner of USA .Just look at pakistan and see how much partnership with USA costed us.America please understand the difference between "FRIENDS AND MASTERS"

will I be bothered if some think tank says BSF should be handed over US-Mexico border? :p:

Whether India will allow or think over it or NOT that is totally different aspect to be debated BUT i am so pleased that what i had suggested many years back and sometimes back too finally strikes a US Think Tank.

Give the US bases, aye aye.

i had talked about it and suggested many years back on PDF viz a viz Kashmir discussions and i still believe US should have a base in IOK. it will serve both American and Indian interests. But primarily US will need it in the long run

one of the reasons why I dont want an independent kashmir on our border and would rather do a deal with pakistan. Once idependent it will be a nightmare for us due to involvement of all big countries there.

Japanese smartly handed defence to Americans and spent all money on their economy, which was one factor, among several other, behind their sucsess.

Japanese have a culture that foreigners cannot easily adopt, and they are not considered in any sort of ideological confrontation with America. Pakistanis, are a victim of ideas behind 'clash of civilizations'. It is good to find a target for large armies, otherwise it would be a pity that trillions of dollars worth of armour will simply rust and become outdated after a few decades. Probably next target of American think tanks will be to take on 'God' to keep their great military machine running.

This is a factual think tank .Please use your brain a little bit .You have enough evidence available for declaring US policies and agendas as selfish and dangerous in the long run.

India is as selfish as USA, am sure GoI will look after our interest the best they can. If we need it we will have it else we wont.
Currently there is no need and there will be massive opposition from people. Govt can secretly allow CIA operatives though

USA is also the country that helped us a lot in various ways, especially food aid when we were hungry. I wont paint them as evil, they work in their interest and we work in our, we will cooperate when there is common ground and oppose them when it hurts our interest. simples

Yes It Was Done in past aswell

It is significant that during the 1991 Gulf War-I, India provided refueling facility to US warplanes. And during Operation Enduring Freedom, several US warships used Indian facilities for rest and recuperation. As part of Operation Enduring Freedom, Indian naval ships provided escorts to merchant vessels from North Arabian Sea till Strait of Malacca in the most active cooperation with US navy in history. In fact, it is in naval cooperation that America sees the immediate future of Indo-US military relations. It is not just access to bases and ports that the US military hopes to get in India, but also training facilities in India.

A common theme among high-ranking American officers is that the US military would benefit from training with Indians, particularly if the training could occur on Indian territory. "India has a variety of landscapes, from ice-clad mountains to deserts, and it would help the Americans because military training ranges shrinking and becoming increasingly controversial in the United States," the report says. And for the US navy training with Indian navy is the best way to become 'proficient in the Indian Ocean region', the report adds.

The American decision-makers 'believe that the military relationship should result in shared technology and capabilities, and ultimately they would like to be able to respond jointly to regional crises'.

Such American dreams are sure to set off significant political resentment as it would offset India's long held tradition of non-alignment, especially its military neutrality. In real terms it would indicates how India, thrust strategically into the Indian Ocean, could emerge as America's key ally in Asia as the continent goes through a historic political churning.

I have heard rumors of Pakistani military personnel visiting foreign academies being offered 'dual job' meaning you work for Pakistan Army but you can take pay from us because we like you. I heard the guy who was offered the job declined the offer.

I know you wont like it. And US base in IoK will be harmful for Pakistan too but i still personally believe US will need that and i believe US must ponder over getting a base either in India or IOK specially.

whether you and me like it or not i feel US will need one there.

Think Tanks are a very strong tool to drive foreign policies either make these policies or break these and also force ideas through powerful opinion makers in vital regions.

Its the beginning of this idea

I also want to become the president of America.......

Its never going to happen. If we involve any military operation , it must be on Indian terms alone. If American soldiers can come ,serve under an Indian commander and spend time in an Indian Base --then we can talk about it.

Sovereignty holds Supreme in India .

Its is a dream which will never get fulfilled just like this think tanks dream........

Both can come true . :)

Even that will be good for US in the ,long run i believe
