The United States should give Pakistan the importance it deserves, believes Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Though the US has sought help from Pakistan to halt the Taliban advance while US troops are pulling out of Afghanistan, US President Joe Biden has not spoken over the issue with Prime Minister Imran Khan so far.

But Qureshi doesn't think Pakistan should worry over not receiving a phone call. If the US expresses disengagement with Pakistan, it puts them at a disadvantage too, Qureshi said on Geo News programme Geo Pakistan.

He said an impression was being given of tensions in Pakistan-US relations.

The foreign minister was confident that Pakistan and the US want the same things.
"America wants stability in Afghanistan, we want the same. The US is saying there is no military solution to Afghanistan, we are saying the same thing. They are saying a solution should be found through comprehensive talks, we are also saying the same thing," Qureshi explained.

"Let the Taliban and Afghan rulers sit together and decide their future," he said, adding that Pakistan is trying its best to persuade the Taliban.

He said that what Pakistan is doing is for its security and survival and for peace and stability.
The FM also spoke over Kashmir, saying that the Indian government uses the Kashmir issue for its domestic politics.

"India could not win the hearts of Kashmiris," he said.

Best for the FM not to talk about not receiving a call. Pakistan needs to act as it sees fit, and if the US has an issue with its actions they can call Pakistan. Considering both sides say they want the same thing.

The FM is probably being pestered with questions about calls, so those asking such questions should be told to lay off. Let Pakistan act as a sovereign country following its own interests.

I guess it is not bad. SMQ (though make blunders) speaking softly that Pakistan is ready to cooperate and IK and Moeed having strong stances that nobody is waiting or have other options. Plus, the media doesn't highlight the story but gives its own perspective.
Plus it paints US bad that they are withdrawing and didn't take Pak considerations (important neighbour and ally). How they can cooperate if they don't even call. Tomorrow Pak can say that we were ready for a peace solution, but US ego/arrogance made it impossible.

For God sake those who are saying PTI is desperate for a phone call must need to understand its not FM, NSA or any others official of Gov. of Pakistan who is demanding or commenting while delivering policy statement; all of them made their remarks in response of the queries generated by Nation and International Journalists.

Answer to a particular but a repetitive question must not be mistaken as desperation at Government of Pakistan end because the Narrative all the respondents are delivering is same every time.
