The crux of the matter is whether Pakistan will consider offering to its East what it wants from its West, as I said before. It is up to Pakistan to decide this, of course. Whatever it chooses will have consequences, either way.

What do you mean offer its West what it offers its East. Do you mean borders; Afghan side versus Indian side, or East as in China and West as in the US. Can you elaborate?

p.s. Pakistan too is open to US companies such as Exxon exploring for Oil.

.
Isn't that what the current US admin wants, to be compensated to leave. wouldn't that be in the national security interest of the US. It may not be fair, but real politik would dictate that is what would satisfy the US enough to leave, along with the security against trans-national threats. If the Afghan Government is a unity government, it would approve its own deals with US companies and ship out its exports. Not all deals would be with the US, just enough to satisfy them. Pakistan would protect the exports transiting its territory. Signing Deals with the US would also counterbalance China, another key objective and US interest, by diversifying Afghanistan economic relations (that is where the need for some big deals comes from).

And the Eastern Border would not be resolved in the same way as the people of Kashmir would have to decide their status, and sign what ever deals they want. Stability there would depend on the world and especially the US backing up Kashmiris internationally, all the way to a peace deal.

Your words for the West:

A power sharing agreement will have to assure Pakistan all Afghan parties respect the territorial integrity of Pakistan; Durand Line as the Border, and no further claims will be made over territory on Eastern side of it. No elements operating in Afghanistan can be used to attack or undermine any foreign nation, including Pakistan in Baluchistan for example.

Your words, edited, for the East:

A power sharing agreement will have to assure India all Pakistani parties respect the territorial integrity of India; Line of Control as the Border, and no further claims will be made over territory on Eastern side of it. No elements operating in Pakistan can be used to attack or undermine any foreign nation, including India in Kashmir for example.

As you said, realpolitik at work, so please do not get offended.

Thats why a quid-pro-quo incremental process can at least push the issue in the right direction for all sides. There are limitations, but progress is better than nothing, and in the mean time, relations will have been reset with realistic expectations from all sides. The mutually respectful relations the Prime Minister outlined in his speech.
Emperor Alexander to the captured King Porus of the Indus Valley: How do you want to be treated?
King Porus: Like a King!!! By the by, note that I haven't given you the land, worth of a tip of a needle, without a fight!!!!!

What about mutual rights to seasonal pasturage across the Durand Line?

They do not fear any army. However, they saw a new country beneath the banner of Pakistan. Military brass was there due to General Dunford (protocol). I hear that General Dunford and Bajwa met seperately as well.

There was no posturing and WE set a positive tone throughout. This was a confidence-building measure meeting.

IK is a stateman and it shows. I am glad we have him.

SMQ will meet Pompeo in Washington DC, next.

You heard it wrong they did not met separately they all were in the same room. Pompeo and team were in Pakistan for only 2 hours so no individual meetings :)

IK came into the room late COAS and FM were already sitting there that is when Gen Dunford tried to have a little chat. There was another important man in the room which no one noticed can you tell who he was?

A bad day for PTI today raising gas and electricity prices, after blabbing for the poor for the last many years coupled with this visit and meek traditional response by Foreign Minister Qureshi. He is an absolute disgrace. Qureshi should be shown youtube tapes of Mevlut Cavusoglu and other FM of 2018 and learn straight talk from them. This Bullsh*t diplomatic slave language he did in press conf. does'nt work anymore. Even a 5 year old knows what Pompeo was here to do and what will he say after he departs. PM Imran would be shamed tomorrow as well when Pompeo stands with Indian FM in New Delhi and barks about what he said to Pakistanis.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi was always a limited personality with not much ability he proved that today. He should ditch these PPP jokers and find someone young in the PTI for foreign ministership.

Not offended, this is a forum, nothing taken personally. Pakistan is not under US occupation, while Afghanistan is, and the government in Kabul is ....well ..... "US backed". Pakistan still has its sovereignty, which it has struggled to maintain for this very reason, so that it can make its own decisions for better or ill.

It comes down to negotiation that assure a stable peace in Kahsmir. Why would Pakistan want guerrilla fighters in Kashmir if the issue is resolved (that's one issue on the same page). Kashmir is a disputed territory and working out the end game (As the new Prime Minister is also considering as he has mentioned; here is Times of India article to show what they say he said;
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com...han-said-about-india/articleshow/65151367.cms)

While the Simla agreement states hostilities ended at a cease-fire line, not an international border. Also both sides agreed to negotiate bilaterally (I know this point will be coming), but guaranteeing these negotiations and supporting the settlement is what Pakistan seeks from the US. If lets say the Kashmir Valley and Azad Kashmir merge into a new country, as the outline of a final peace and rest remains as is, would the US support the new Kashmir Republic's sovereignty as it charts its own government and foreign relations.

What about mutual rights to seasonal pasturage across the Durand Line?

That can be worked in, if there is peace between the two countries. It's like crossing between Canada and the US for the citizens of either country. Respect the border and go about your lives.

Bro, I didn't check the video yet. I will check it and see if I can identify him.
