How this is a setback? Any body who in their wildest dream thought such trip was not on card or not possible or USA will opt out for fear of India being unhappy clearly do not have any understanding for the historical nature of the PAK-USA relationship and strategic issues.
In fact I would say USA expected PM IK to visit very soon after his election but it was his deliberate decision not to do so to ensure PAK or PM IP is not in weaker position or seen to be weak in current geo-political scenario.
These so called expert should retire and have long sleep.
Obama can listen and understand. It's never good to do chest-thumping like the Middle Eastern and some Latin American leaders do to annoy America; forget UNSC sanctions: Even unilateral sanctions can cause oil rich countries to buckle--case in point Iran and Venezuela, and to an extent Russia too.
So it's a very welcome development that Trump-Imran will be meeting. But there 's still China to be contained--one of the most important pillars of American foreign policy and Pakistan will not play ball in that regard.
Having said this--had it been Obama-Imran meeting I would have put a lot more value in the meeting. Trump is just way too unreliable. Except for his consistent support for Israel, no foreign govt should ever trust this guy's policies. He can go in extremes to praise or blame within days.
PS. Iran should NOT even be on the agenda in this meeting except perhaps trying to tell Americans it will be a very bad idea to inflame the region.
Don't know whom they able to isolate yet ...India's objective was ISOLATION of Pakistan - no more after this visit and this is the real set back for Indian foreign policy.
I think the slap of 27th Feb. has played an important role here.
Pakistan openly declared on 27th Feb. that you cannot control me.

Iran has now 100 times better relations with pakistan due to the efforts of new government .
Things with Afghanistan would never be right but they are going towards normalisation.
The gulf is our friend . Relations with Russia are warm. I think pm Imran would be invited to Eastern economic Forum. It is in September about 1.5 month later and so we should expect an invitation .
We have signed strategic plan with eurpeon union .
Royal family has started its Pakistan tour again . And British Airways have started its services to Pakistan.
Now normalisation or relations with usa is on cards.
We have excellent relations with asean and central Asian nations .
Don't know what India achieved through its isolation policy .
Even isreal is not openly vocal against Pakistan .
Probably they have the support of the marshal islands in isolating Pakistan.
No doubt that is what they want, but they are in no position to dictate to anybody. they got used to few things as Nora was FM and PM thus no work was done in foreign policy wise.India's objective was ISOLATION of Pakistan - no more after this visit and this is the real set back for Indian foreign policy.
