There was the Senior section but really.. some of the "Seniors" are too juvenile to even have conversation on anything with.

Btw did you run across the Taiwanese Hsun Hai? They've crammed 16 AShMs onto a ship the size of our coast guard OPVs! :o:

Oh and Muricans are going to give their go ahead for the JABM (Joint air breathing missile, specifically designed to work both as an interceptor and an anti-ship missile, how that's going to work out dunno?), that is the sort of thing I'd like to see joint development in, in the niche areas.

If someone would listen and think, perhaps not much different can be done with the Brahmos.

BrahMos is WAY TOO BIG and WAY TO HEAVY to be used as air interceptor, even in simplest of terms you need a goodly number of said interceptors and you would need a very large ship indeed to carry 32/48 of those.

I should add, the JABM will operate as an AShM against smaller ships and vessels, its not exactly meant to be used against a DDG, its being custom built for the LCS.

It rivals the SM-3 in size, and even then cannot be used for BMD, so having an interceptor filling in for the Aster-30/SM-2/Barak-8 but possessed of the size of an SM-3 would be pointless.

Btw, another VERY interesting concept is the DW-8000, a classy design to say the least and with the right outfitting it could give any opposing force the jitters.

Im still not convinced so. The Brahmos-M may rival the SM-3 in size, but by its design it has greater range potential than given for it. The same issues that face the JABM with its air breathing design will also plague the Brahmos.

The JABM is actually envisaged to be more compact than the BrahMos, that is exactly why it requires a proper clean sheet design with many firsts whereas a "run of the mill" air breathing supersonic AShM would be quite easy for the Americans to cook up. The primary design challenges are the compact design and dual use capability.

Meh..besides..with systems like the AD-1/AD-2 we would be better off implementing those in a naval role than anything else, but then our folks have always lacked vision, for example last year ISRO had completed the testing of a L-band AESA radar prototype (MOTR, for very long range and high latitude observation/tracking of objects), it in fact mimics the THALES L-STAR perfectly but the GOI has not seen it fit to adapt the same for our ships on mission mode.

Let me guess, did it have to do with the fact that it was made locally? Or because there was already a product in the market that could be paid for with taxpayer cash? Can you imagene the idea of a Military focused research organization being beaten to something like that by a space research agency?
