Vietnam has three regions: north, central and south. So different the Vietnamese. Based on history, I would say the South favors the Americans, the Central the French, while the North the Russians.

America is welcome to station their troops anywhere in Asia on their close allies soil except India..we are not that close and our national pride will never allow us to station foreign soldiers on our soil....also the Left political parties will never allow it and it would be political suicide for the ruling party to ever consider having foreign troops in India.....moreover we have a large armed force who are more than capable of handling our own security concerns and don't need any external protection like your NATO allies...however if the US is willing to give us a base or two on their soil in future, we may be willing to reciprocate the favor.....till then not possible....not now....not in the future....NEVER!!!!!

i know we are friends mate,but we have adopted a neutral foreign policy.if we allow you to station troops in india,we will get panned by russia,our ally.china,our neighbour and many other countries.

we dont want that to happen.

so unless and until,there is an emergency or perhaps a war like situation,we wont allow that to happen.

I can't say for the government, but if there is another situation like 1962, and if usa offers to help us, personally will have no problem in accepting us soldiers 'temporarily' until the situation is stabilised.but no permanent bases.

Again the same thing mate.

Our foreign policy is neutral. We dont take sides openly. We didn't even support Russia in cold war.and choose to be neutral and that too when America was completely pro pakistan.
You may or may not like it.but that is how our policy is.

That seems unlikely except in a case of war where we are on the same side (which most probably will be).
