America pretty much controls indian foreign policy. India won't be able to say no to America.
I'm pretty sure there will be American military bases in India within 10 years.
They will pressure you and say they want a military base in return for all the weapons you are importing and technology they are giving.

Just look at how India crumbled under American pressure not to buy Iranian oil.
Don't overrate your country.
India is still very much an Anglo-Saxon controlled country whether your like it or not.

We are not "Major Non Nato ally of USA" like Pakistan, We will never allow American Marines in India.

India was never in dilemma nor was divided over the issue of giving foreign troops a shelter in its territory. Since Independence it has always followed a middle path and even today it maintains this rule of non alignment.

America is welcome to station their troops anywhere in Asia on their close allies soil except India..we are not that close and our national pride will never allow us to station foreign soldiers on our soil....also the Left political parties will never allow it and it would be political suicide for the ruling party to ever consider having foreign troops in India.....moreover we have a large armed force who are more than capable of handling our own security concerns and don't need any external protection like your NATO allies...however if the US is willing to give us a base or two on their soil in future, we may be willing to reciprocate the favor.....till then not possible....not now....not in the future....NEVER!!!!!

Actually US troops will not be stationed in India. Definitely not in the near future (as far as I can see). This is nothing against US. In fact most Indians want very good relationship with US and its people. But stationing foreign troops (any nations not just US) is a big taboo in India. The issue is more psychological. It has only been 65 years since we removed the British and any mention of foreign troops (stationed) freaks out a majority of Indians. We do have long term stationed troops from friendly country like Singapore. But there is a totally different reason for that.

Even friends aren't allowed to station their forces in India(especially any superpower/major power).SU was a very close friend of India,so is Russia,France and USA now.but none have presence in India as India can take care of itself.only singapore is allowed to base some of its military bases,but again,it is only exception as it is a very small country and they want to keep their hardware out of harms way.but as a friend,we are doing enough amount of Joint exercise,doesn't it??USA should post forces where it needed most,various countries in pacific and Africa,where,only presence of USA can avert a war.

i know we are friends mate,but we have adopted a neutral foreign policy.if we allow you to station troops in india,we will get panned by russia,our ally.china,our neighbour and many other countries.

we dont want that to happen.

so unless and until,there is an emergency or perhaps a war like situation,we wont allow that to happen.
