edit: those were received during 2005-2008 period .....

US arms Pakistan with 14 combat aircrafts, 59 trainer jets, 374 armoured carriers

WASHINGTON: The US has handed over to Pakistan 14 combat aircraft, 59 military trainer jets and 374 armoured personnel carriers, which were earlier used by American forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.

As the US withdraws its forces from neighbouring Afghanistan, the major defence articles have been transferred to Pakistan under its 'Excessive Defence Article' category, an internal Congressional report has said.

India had in the past have opposed the transfer of such arms to Pakistan as it believes Islamabad would eventually use the fighter jets against it.

According to the internal report prepared by Congressional Research Service (CRS)-- an independent research wing of the Congress-- Pakistan has either made full payment or will make payments from its national funds towards the purchase of 18 new F-16C/D Block 52 Fighting FalconBSE -3.18 % combat aircraft worth $ 1.43 billion.

This include F-16 armaments including 500 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles; 1,450 2,000-pound bombs; 500 JDAM Tail Kits for gravity bombs; and 1,600 Enhanced Paveway laser-guided kits. All this has cost Pakistan $ 629 million.

Under Coalition Support Funds (in the Pentagon budget), Pakistan received 26 Bell 412EP utility helicopters, along with related parts and maintenance, valued at $ 235 million.

Pakistan is also receiving military equipment with a mix of its national funds and America's foreign military funding.

These include 60 Mid-Life Update kits for F-16A/B combat aircraft (valued at $ 891 million, with $ 477 million of this in FMF).

Pakistan has purchased 45 such kits, with all upgrades completed to date. This include 115 M-109 self-propelled howitzers ($ 87 million, with $ 53 million in FMF).

Under Frontier Corps, and Pakistan Counterinsurgency Fund authorities, US has provided four Mi-17 multirole helicopters (another six were provided temporarily at no cost), four King Air 350 surveillance aircraft, and 450 vehicles.

I can't find a single credible western / Pakistani source for this news. Anyone.....................?

:o:

Interesting about the M113. I think they are simply trying to get rid of them to speed up the development of their replacement.

Thousand + of those were offered (most were in bad condition) hence only few were selected. Probably as a stop gap measure considering we are already producing better APCs (some of which themselves are base in the M113).

14 F-16s are from the embargoed batch (28 F-16 Pak paid for in the 90's were embargoed and given to US navy).

14 more might be handed over to Pak.

does We (Pak ) Air Force Have any capability to track down any stealthy Aircraft, Helicopter etc

This is just about briefing as we already taken all of these deliveries so far except Zulu's and Zulus are neither part of these deliveries nor been approved for sales earlier while these deliveries were in progress. And about F-16 that is throughly ambiguious as it seems a total mix ans error of reporting. We have bought 18 block 52+ for 1.43 B$s and paid for them and now 18 more we can exercise. Regrding F-16 A/B from Jordan, yes that may be funded by USA as we have recieved 14 of them and its mentioned in it.

I think its overall assessment of US arms sales to Pakistan in recent years ... Still its confusing

Pakistan has been arming itself silently....huh. Who knew! What else do we have that is not disclosed?!
