Always look on the bright side. One of the scheme that might work for INA and PH defence cooperation in the future is by following PT.DI cooperation with Thailand Aviation Industry. In the past years, Thailand have used a lot of our aircraft products, like NC212-400 and CN-235. So we made a deal to make (TAI) as an authorized distributor and co-producers of CN235-220 aircraft in Thailand. We certainty can do the same with Philippines.

Think Philippine is better off getting wheeled platform such as Stryker or LAV III. That will give you a lot of mobility to deal with insurgency.

Depends on whether or not Philippine would train with tracked platform, it's quite dangerous for you guys to roll in tracked APC to deal with Insurgency in the north....

I have read somewhere that when it comes to wheeled IFVs, the Finnish-made Patria AMV is being favored by the PH military top brass and was said to be cheaper to Stryker.

That is probably the reason why the PH Army and PH Marine Corps use the Simba APCs, V-150s and LAV-300s more often, and of those vehicles, the Simba APC is the "most recent" wheeled APCs that were procured; having acquired those vehicles sometime in the 1990s.

To be honest, I think that the JSDF should donate some of our Type 99 155 mm self propelled howitzers to them. Perhaps even 15-20 to start off.

Having any where between 5 of these units in each of their regional divisions would effectively boost their anti ground fire power and would effectively and accurately strike enemy sites (insurgency) quickly without having to expend unecessary infantry ground units. Just for mopping purposes only after pulverization doctrine is realized.

There was supposed to be a deal where the PH Military were to procure ATHOS artillery from Israel, but it seems that the deal is either postponed, pushed-back or cancelled.

The first claim the Philippines ever made was after 1950. The treaty that establishes the area of Philippines between colonial powers, doesn't include those islands under Philippines territory, a reason why US defense treaty doesn't apply there.

Don't go for Stryker, they are simply crap, unless you want to use MGS on Stryker later on, Stryker is not really recommended, LAV (any of them) is a lot better solution...

And yes, in term of Philippine's case, I would not be surprise at all Philippine Army favour wheeled platform. Tracked platform are mostly suitable in plains and desert, with jungle like terrain in Philippine, Tracked vehicle would not do any good..

Most likely air-portability; towed howitzers, particularly the 105mm caliber howitzers can be transported via helicopter.

Correction only the Army had Simbas but the rest is correct the AFP love wheeled over track and the ATHOS we got is also artillery piece not SP which i would love to see in the AFP

Most Likely because Philippine Army does not process MBT at the moment, and SP Gun can only work if you have a full complement of MBT and IFV/AFV accompanied. Otherwise your SP Gun will be unprotected and will basically a dead meat when you got overran because you don't have tank to protect your forward deployed gun...

The current "Tank" Philippine army uses are the old UK Scorpion tank that actually was a scout vehicle with 76mm gun, basically a better protected BMP-1. Philippine need to reform their Armour Corp before they can start looking at SP Gun. Some years ago, France and US offered AMX-13 and M-60E3 tank for Philippine, I think it's about time to revisit these proposal...

I remember seeing a picture of a Simba APC with a turret that has a 90mm gun, I wonder why the PH Army never considered acquiring it...

The PH Army would have not any problem acquiring any fire-support vehicle had the PH Army bought an FSV-variant of the Simba APC.

If this blog is to be believed, the proposal for acquiring MBTs will be in the second phase of the PH Military modernization.

Sort of, based on the difficulty of terrain, tracked will have advantages to move in jungle and desert over wheeled. Wheeled are best for plain.
