If this blog is to be believed, the proposal for acquiring MBTs will be in the second phase of the PH Military modernization.
MaxDefense: The Philippine's Options for New Tanks & Wheeled IFVs for RAFPMP Horizon 2 Phase
Hard sell for Philippine Military if they wanted MBT.
There are several thing the blog said was true, the most important problem is Philippine own infrastructure did not geared to operate Medium to Heavy MBT. With the aging infrastructure (such as road and bridge) need to be replaced before they can be able to support armour operation. Which mean the government need to rebuild the city before they can consider which tank they want to buy.
The question, however, is not if, but when. I do think Philippine need MBT to begin with, but with the current situation, this is not something Philippine can do at this point, maybe 5 to 10 years ahead when the government fixed the infrastructure.
