Yes we've been backstabbed by every country that we've helped except Pakistan, but that does not change the fact that we can slap the US in the face and they cannot even whimper.

Defending your airspace and committing an act of war is totally different. Defending own's airspace is a right for every country. If a foreign aircraft intrudes into a country, that country has the right to shoot it down. It is not considered an act of war
