US Drone strikes in Pakistan are illegal under international law.

*Serious Sad Face*

Thanks, but no thanks. Spend that money on health care and education instead.

Very well said.

I don't see how anyone can stop the US attacks in Waziristan. Pakistan is a democracy only in name... And given the dire economic situation there, it is completely understandable that the Pak army not provoke the Americans.

Sadly, this situation cannot change. Economy will continue to get worse. Education is the only way out. The next generation of educated Pakistanis might be able to break out of this cycle of destruction.

Till then, hold tight. Utilize your scarce resources towards development and education. Please force your politicians to stop the proxy war against India. We are brothers...

Jeez is the USA out to humiliate you guys completely ?? They are practically walking all over you and your so called sovereignity. Pakistan is a country just in name. You are practically the soccer ball of Christian and Zion controlled USA. That country seems to be using you to try out all its new military technology in the form of drones and helicopters. Aiding you with outdated or useless military material and using you as target practice for new military technology. I am not mocking you. Drone attack kills four in South Waziristan

PESHAWAR: A US drone strike targeting a vehicle killed four militants in Pakistan’s tribal belt on Tuesday, local officials said, the second such operation since the killing of Osama bin Laden.

A security official said the drones fired two missiles into South Waziristan.

Another official said the missiles fell near Angoor Adda village.

“Two missiles were fired on a vehicle at about 4:15 pm (1115 GMT) and four militants were killed,” the official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

The identity of the militants was not immediately known.

On Monday, hundreds of Taliban rallied in Wana, the main town of South Waziristan, vowing to avenge bin Laden’s death after US Navy SEALs shot him dead last week in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad near Islamabad.

Note that this strike was in South rather than North Waziristan. The attack took place in an area controlled by a Taliban leader who has admitted to also serving as a senior leader in al Qaeda, near Angoor Adda. This strike was the second in Angoor Adda since April 13, when Predators attacked and killed six Haqqani Network fighters in the town.

US drone strike kills six in North Waziristan: officials

MIRANSHAH: A US drone strike destroyed a vehicle in Pakistan’s Taliban-infested North Waziristan district on the Afghan border, killing six suspected militants on Friday, local officials said.

The two missiles struck the Tappi area, 10 kilometres (six miles) east of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan, where US officials want Pakistan to launch an offensive against networks fighting in neighbouring Afghanistan.

“A US drone targeting a militants’ vehicle fired two missiles killing four militants,” a security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Another local security official confirmed the strike and casualties, saying the identity of those killed in the attack was not immediately known.

Friday’s attack was the seventh to be reported in Pakistan’s tribal areas near the Afghan border since US commandos killed Osama bin Laden in a secret raid in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad on May 2.

US Predators strike again in Mir Ali

By Bill Roggio, May 23, 2011

US Predators again attacked terrorist targets in Pakistan's Taliban-controlled tribal agency of North Waziristan. Today's strike is the seventh this month, and signals that the two-month-long slowdown in strikes has come to an end.

Unmanned Predators or the more deadly Reapers fired several missiles at a vehicle traveling in the Mir Ali area in North Waziristan today, killing seven "militants," local Pakistani officials told AFP.

"I do not know whether there was a high-value target. We received reports that those killed in the van were all foreigners," a Pakistani official told AFP.

No senior al Qaeda, Taliban, or other terrorist leaders have been reported killed in today's strike. Pakistani officials use the term "foreigners" to describe Arab al Qaeda and other terrorists from outside of Pakistan.

Missile attack kills five in SWA

Updated on: Saturday, June 04, 2011 12:35:43 AM

WANA: At least five people have been killed in a fresh missile strike in Ghwakhwa area of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) on late Friday, SAMAA reported.

According to details, the missiles hit a compound in SWA, believed to be the hideout of Taliban militants in the restive tribal area of Pakistan, killing five persons.

The strike took place in Ghwakhwa area, 10 kilometres (six miles) west of Wana, the main town of South Waziristan tribal region, where the military launched an operation two years ago.

"A US drone fired three missiles on a militant compound, killing five rebels," a senior security official in the area told AFP.

Another security official confirmed the strike and casualties but said the "identities of those killed in the attack were not immediately known".

The United States does not confirm drone attacks, but its military and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operating in Afghanistan are the only forces that deploy them in the region.

Missile attacks doubled in the area last year, with more than 100 drone strikes killing over 670 people in 2010, compared with 45 strikes that killed 420 in 2009, according to an AFP tally.

Top Al Qaeda-linked militant reportedly killed by drone attack in Pakistan

Ilyas Kashmiri, an Al Qaeda-linked operative blamed for several high-profile attacks in Pakistan and India, was killed in South Waziristan, say news reports and a statement by his militant organization. Analysts had labeled Kashmiri a possible Osama bin Laden successor.

By Mark Magnier, Los Angeles Times, June 4, 2011, 10:09 a.m., Islamabad, Pakistan

An overnight attack by an unmanned aircraft killed Ilyas Kashmiri, an Al Qaeda-linked operative blamed for several high-profile attacks in Pakistan and India, local news reports and a statement by his banned militant organization said Saturday.

If borne out, this would be the second major U.S. anti-terrorism coup in quick succession following the killing of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden early last month by Navy SEALs. Analysts had identified Kashmiri as a possible Bin Laden successor.

"This is very good news, especially on the heels of the Bin Laden" killing, said Talat Masood, a security analyst and former Pakistani lieutenant general. "He's a very important leader who played havoc with the region."

Shoaib Khan, an assistant political agent in South Waziristan, confirmed the killing at a compound in Ghwa Khwa village, adding that Kashmiri and eight other militants were buried in a local graveyard. A senior tribal area official said separately that multiple sources had confirmed Kashmiri was dead.

That said, it's notoriously difficult to corroborate the victims of drone attacks, reportedly one of the reasons President Obama decided to launch a manned assault on Bin Laden's compound in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad despite the added risk.

This is particularly true when the strikes occur in isolated border areas, including South Waziristan, where Friday's late night attack occurred. Many senior militants have been "killed" repeatedly — including Kashmiri, whose death was reported in September 2009 — only to turn up alive a few weeks or months later.

"We confirm that our emir [leader] and commander in chief, Mohammad Ilyas Kashmiri, along with other companions, was martyred in an American drone strike on June 3, 2011, at 11:15 p.m.," Abu Hanzla Kashir, who identified himself as a spokesman for Kashmiri's Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami group, said in a statement faxed to a Pakistani television station.

"God willing ... America will very soon see our full revenge," it added. "Our only target is America."

The statement's authenticity could not be immediately verified.

Separately, Pakistan security forces reported killing 26 Islamist militants on Saturday after they crossed over from Afghanistan in the fourth day of fighting close to the border.

Kashmiri, who had a $5-million U.S. bounty on his head, was considered one of Pakistan's most dangerous, strategic and capable militants, suspected of helping organize last month's assault on the Mehran naval base in the southern port city of Karachi and the 2008 attack on the Indian city of Mumbai that killed 163 people.

Both operations involved small teams of well-trained and committed attackers who held their targets for an extended period, sowing destruction and garnering widespread media attention.

According to Pakistan officials who asked not to be identified, the U.S. fired three missiles at the Ghwa Khwa compound located about 10 miles from South Waziristan's largest town of Wana, striking two rooms where the men were staying. The compound belongs to a tribesman identified as Mir Ajam Khan with links to local militant groups.

The BBC, which was first to report his death, said Kashmiri had recently returned from elsewhere in the tribal areas.

Analysts warned that Kashmiri's death, if confirmed, could spark reprisals. "This is great news," said Javed Hussain, a security analyst, former brigadier and special forces commander. "But there are so many vulnerable military locations in Pakistan. I expect more attacks on military targets and American sites. He supposedly had a very long reach, and it's a ruthless organization."

The U.S. as a policy doesn't acknowledge specific drone attacks or their intended targets. The drone program is highly controversial here because of civilians killed accidently in the attacks and the widely held view in Pakistan that the unmanned aircraft are a major violation of national sovereignty.

That said, Kashmiri's reported killing could help ease the tensions witnessed between the U.S. and Pakistan since the Bin Laden killing, given that he's high on both countries' wanted lists.

The operation also could blunt criticism in intelligence and military circles here that the U.S. selfishly follows its own agenda without much regard for Pakistan's national interest or local political fallout. This would be particularly true if it turns out that Pakistan provided intelligence on his whereabouts, as seems likely.

"I think it's a very good sign," said Masood, the former lieutenant general. "It shows how much can be achieved. It's also good for India-Pakistan relations since he was a sworn enemy of both countries."

However, if Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami militants respond by stepping up attacks in the disputed region of Kashmir, claimed by both India and Pakistan, relations between two South Asia nations could deteriorate further, other analysts pointed out.

Kashmiri started his militant career working for the Pakistani army training Afghan mujahedin fighters, then lost an eye in the 1980s fighting against the Russians in Afghanistan.

"Once the war was over, he became jobless," said Hussain, the analyst. "He only knew one thing, how to fight."

Turning his attentions west, he became something of a local hero after escaping from an Indian jail for helping Kashmir-based militants attack India.

Kashmiri broke with the Pakistan government, however, after Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami was banned by then-President Pervez Musharraf following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. In 2005, he was arrested on suspicion of involvement in a 2003 assassination attempt against Musharraf but was subsequently released for lack of evidence.

Twin US drone strikes kill many in Pakistan

Two US missile strikes have killed at least 14 people in Pakistan's tribal areas along the Afghan border, local security officials have said.

The strikes on Monday came a day after at least 24 people were killed in an explosion in the northwestern town of Nowshera and another bombing at a bus stop near Peshawar.

The missile strikes took place near Wana, the main town in the South Waziristan tribal region, early on Monday morning.

Local intelligence officials confirmed the strikes. Al Jazeera correspondent Kamal Hyder, reporting from Islamabad, said that one strike targeted a compound, while another hit a madrassah (religious school).

The identities of those killed in the strikes were not immediately known.

Hyder said there were concerns that civilians could be among the dead.

The latest strikes come just three days after a suspected US drone strike killed Ilyas Kashmiri, a senior al-Qaeda commander, according to local officials.

Bakery bombing

On Sunday, a suicide bomber attacked a bakery in northwest Pakistan, killing 18 people and wounding 40 others, local police said.

Liaquat Ali Khan, a police official, said the attack occurred late in the evening in a neighbourhood inhabitated by military personnel in the town of Nowshera.

At least two soldiers were among the dead.

It was the second bomb blast of the day. An earlier attack killed six people at a bus stop in the Matani area near the northwestern city of Peshawar.

Rescue workers and police combed the site strewn with debris from the explosion while the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Local TV footage showed the twisted truck and other damaged vehicles scattered at the scene, while rescue workers rushed away the wounded.

Witness account

Malik Asif, a witness, said: "I was about at a distance of 30 yards when this blast occurred. I rushed here and I saw a woman lying here, and a man was lying on the other side. I picked them up," he said.

"There was smoke everywhere. I saw many other wounded lying there. Two of them died. They were confirmed dead. The other two, who were taken to hospital were with blown up body parts, they would have also died."

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack, Al Jazeera's Hyder reported. The group has carried out a string of attacks in Pakistan since Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader, was killed in the Pakistani city of Abbotabad on May 2.

drone attack's and sucide bombing's have become two common thing's n pakistan, pk authoritie's need to do something about . RIP to the dead.

The level of indifference towards these acts i.e. suicide bombings and drone attacks is astounding. Pakistanis here seem more bothered about the poverty rate in India or achievements of China than the fact that every other days, scores of Pakistanis are murdered either by Pakistani terrorists or NATO drones.
