US commander apologises over Quran mistreatment
By AFP
Published: February 21, 2012
The US commander of Nato troops in Afghanistan apologised on Tuesday over reports that foreign troops had set fire to copies of the Holy Quran and ordered a full investigation into the allegations.
“When we learned of these actions, we immediately intervened and stopped them. The materials recovered will be properly handled by appropriate religious authorities,” General John Allen said in a statement.
“I offer my sincere apologies for any offence this may have caused, to the president of Afghanistan, the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and most importantly, to the noble people of Afghanistan.”

This is a Crusade wrapped in pours plastic sheet of War Against Terror. This term of war against terror was so pathetic that it failed its identity on its own. This is the war by Crusaders to capture resources and wherever necessary destroy Muslims. No logic can ever defend burning of holy scriptures unless there is a hatred for that faith and their hatred for Islam is darn soooo open secret.

I never said that Taliban represent Muslims :) I recognize them as local Afghan resistance against the invading forces and they represent majority of the population of Afghanistan. Nothing wrong that I see in my statement.

. . .
Do you honestly believe the MAJORITY of Afghanis want the Taliban back in power?

Supporting them in their struggle against invaders and supporting them for the government are two different things. I am pretty much sure that majority of Afghans support Taliban's resistance against the US-NATO forces.

They want the real taliban who brought peace and security to Afghanistan.
The taliban who ended popy production, something the worlds supper powers are unable to do.

They don't want the fictitious taliban that are a creation of the US media. Man those guys are crazy, who says there is no more good fiction on tv no more :cheesy:

Brother, I do not support the west going to war with other countries. But do not put the blame on the entire west for what a few people in the NATO uniform do. if you say that the entire west does not have respect for Islam then so does the entire Afgan people under the Talib regim when they brought down the statues of Budha.
But in reality neither the Afgan people do not have such hatred for Budhism or the Entire west does not have such hatred for Islam.

You'd be absolutely wrong. The average Afghani simply wants BOTH the Taliban and ISAF forces to go away, so they can be left in peace. Unfortunately, if/when ISAF leaves, the Taliban return.

Then, again, people get beaten for not wearing the correct clothing, windows get painted black, lest a glimpse of female skin be seen; music is destroyed, laughter and dancing and kite flying vanish. Among about a thousand other objectionable, heavy-handed Taliban ruling philosophies.

It's very popular to root the Taliban on so that America "gets theirs", but conveniently ignored is the fallout from Taliban rule.

Is there any approved method for disposing various religious books??

In Islam the approved disposing method is to burn the holy book in a pure and clean place then bury the remains in clean place away from the reach of human foot.

(My Muslim brothers correct me if I am wrong)
