US commander apologises over Quran mistreatment

In Islam the approved disposing method is to burn the holy book in a pure and clean place then bury the remains in clean place away from the reach of human foot.

Do you honestly believe the MAJORITY of Afghanis want the Taliban back in power?

Taliban govt. is long gone and the only living Taliban seen in open is Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef.
Today, he lives as freeman and no one have problems with him.

Afghanistan is under US & Indian control from last 11 years the new generation have only heard stories about Taliban.

BTW.. those who surrounded and burned the US security base in Bagram were not Talibans.
So please, stop beating the bush and address the subject issue.

IMO... US commander has asked for apology and it shall be accepted.... as always!

I like to state that we all know a nation, which had burned more Quran than US and never even appologised, but today....... they are most friendly to fake talibans conducting attacks, kidnaps and beheading in Pakistan, only.

I never said that Taliban represent Muslims I recognize them as local Afghan resistance against the invading forces and they represent majority of the population of Afghanistan. Nothing wrong that I see in my statement.

Taliban represent taliban minded people not Afghanistan. 2ndly you said taliban will take revenge so i take it as its only Taliban problem that someone mistreated Quran, IDTS.

I hope Americans will understand the importance and respect of this book in a muslim's life. Such actions even if happend unintentional will not help the 10 year long war. Its funny they have laws so that the sentiments are not hurt of 100 million people by holocast denial, On other hand they do things which hurt sentiments of more than 1 billion people.

is totaly wrong method man i have seen vids saudi method is better for punishment muhammad(PBUH) never used or said to kill some one in war like goat show mercy to enemy when you kill them that they feel less pain when they are beheaded i should be done in saudi say in one stroke so victum suffers less.

You'd be absolutely wrong. The average Afghani simply wants BOTH the Taliban and ISAF forces to go away, so they can be left in peace. Unfortunately, if/when ISAF leaves, the Taliban return.

Then, again, people get beaten for not wearing the correct clothing, windows get painted black, lest a glimpse of female skin be seen; music is destroyed, laughter and dancing and kite flying vanish. Among about a thousand other objectionable, heavy-handed Taliban ruling philosophies.

It's very popular to root the Taliban on so that America "gets theirs", but conveniently ignored is the fallout from Taliban rule.

They want ISAF gone. But they desperately want the Taliban to go away and never return.

From the average Afghanis point of view, the ISAF forces bring food, medicine, supplies, jobs. The Taliban bring inept leadership, corruption, heavy-handed hyper-religious micro-management of people, beheadings, and other joyful things.

Back on topic - this was an accident. Yet as usual, the Taliban are whipping up people in a frothing frenzy, claiming it was all some elaborate, intentional insult. They demand "retribution." What if someone demanded an apology and even retribution for Taliban kidnappings, executions, random IED's, suicide bombings, murders and mayhem? Does anyone think the Taliban would apologize?

The thing is that accidental or intentional.... It will give more fuel to war... Afghanistan is highly religious country .... And ISAF should be more careful specially on these things.....

I was watching a show few months ago an analyst was talking about afghanistan problem. He said and I agree that most of the afghan who are supporting taliban dont even know about 9/11. They dont have television or free access to internet etc. They believe what they are told.this unintentional accident gonna give them (talibans) lot of recruits.... because they already have that terry jones quran burning story. Combine them both and they have perfect brain washing material.

I hope this time this thing end without any violence.....
