کل چودھویں کی رات تھی شب بھر رہا چرچا ترا

کچھ نے کہا یہ چاند ہے کچھ نے کہا چہرا ترا


ہم بھی وہیں موجود تھے ہم سے بھی سب پوچھا کیے

ہم ہنس دئیے ہم چپ رہے منظور تھا پردہ ترا


اس شہر میں کس سے ملیں ہم سے تو چھوٹیں محفلیں

ہر شخص تیرا نام لے ہر شخص دیوانا ترا


کوچے کو تیرے چھوڑ کر جوگی ہی بن جائیں مگر

جنگل ترے پربت ترے بستی تری صحرا ترا


ہم اور رسم بندگی آشفتگی افتادگی

احسان ہے کیا کیا ترا اے حسن بے پروا ترا


دو اشک جانے کس لیے پلکوں پہ آ کر ٹک گئے

الطاف کی بارش تری اکرام کا دریا ترا


اے بے دریغ و بے اماں ہم نے کبھی کی ہے فغاں

ہم کو تری وحشت سہی ہم کو سہی سودا ترا


ہم پر یہ سختی کی نظر ہم ہیں فقیر رہ گزر

رستہ کبھی روکا ترا دامن کبھی تھاما ترا


ہاں ہاں تری صورت حسیں لیکن تو ایسا بھی نہیں

اک شخص کے اشعار سے شہرہ ہوا کیا کیا ترا

Death anniversary of Abdul Hameed Addam

اردو کے ممتاز اور مقبول شاعر عبدالحمید عدم 10 اپریل 1910ء کو تلونڈی موسیٰ خان، ضلع گوجرانوالہ میں پیدا ہوئے تھے۔ وہ ایک قادر الکلام شاعر تھے۔ وہ شاعری کی ہر صنف پر عبور رکھتے تھے مگر غزل اور رباعی ان کی خاص پہچان تھی۔ ان کی شاعری کے لاتعداد مجموعے شائع ہوئے جن میں نقش دوام، زلف پریشاں، خرابات، قصر شیریں، رم آہو، نگار خانہ، صنم کدہ، قول و قرار، زیر لب، شہر خوباں، گلنار، جنس گراں، گردش جام، عکس جام، ساز و صدف، آب رواں، شہر فرہاد، آب زر، سر و سمن اور بط مے کے نام سرفہرست ہیں۔ ان کے کلام کی کلیات بھی شائع ہوچکی ہے۔ 10 مارچ 1981ء کو عبدالحمید عدم طویل علالت کے بعد لاہور میں وفات پاگئے اور لاہورکینٹ کے قبرستان میں آسودۂ خاک ہوئے۔

شاید مجھے نکال کے پچھتا رہے ہوں آپ
محفل میں اس خیال سے پھر آ گیا ہوں میں

Ghamon ke naam hota hai..!


Suna hia chain kho kar woh,
Saher se sham rota hai..!
Muhabbat jo bhi karta hai,
Bahut badnaam hota hai..!

Suna hia is mohabbat mein,
Kahen bhi dil nahi lagta..!
Bina us ke nigahon mein,
Koi mosam nahi jachta..!

Khafa jis se muhabbat ho,
Woh jeevan bhar nahi hansta..!
Bahut anmol hai yeh dil,
Ujjar kar phir nahi basta..!

Death anniversary of Ada Jafarey


Ada Jafarey was born in Badayun, UP, India on August 22, 1926 and was named Aziz Jehan by her mother. Ada is a Pakistani poet who is regarded as the first major Urdu poet who publishes as a woman and has been called "The First Lady of Urdu Poetry". She is also an author and is considered a prominent figure in contemporary Urdu literature.
Her poetic quest, which now spans over seven decades, started when she wrote her first verse at the age of 9 years, under the pen name of Ada Badayuni. Encouragement in her childhood and early youth from her mother and then, after marriage, from her husband Nurul Hasan Jafarey kept her literary spark going. She married Nurul Hasan Jafarey on 29 January 1947, in Lucknow, India. After her marriage, she took her pen name Ada Jafarey. Her husband, Nurul Hasan, was a top-ranking civil servant of the Federal Government of India. Ada Jafarey also moved with her husband to Karachi after Partition of India. Her husband was a littérateur himself who wrote columns for both English and Urdu newspapers. He also served as the president of the Anjuman-i Taraqqi-i Urdu. Nurul Hasan, a major inspiration to her writing, passed away on 3 December 1995.
She published her first book Main Saaz Dhundtee Rahee in 1950. In addition to an autobiography and research work, Ada has published five collections of poetry.
Ada Jafarey was awarded the Adamjee Award in 1967 for her second poetic collection Shehr e Dard. In recognition of her work, the Government of Pakistan awarded her the Tamgha e Imtiaz in 1981. She received the Baba e Urdu Award from the Pakistan Academy of Letters in 1994, and the Qaid e Azam Literary Award in 1997. She was also the recipient of the Hamdard Foundation of Pakistan’s Certificate of Merit. The Government of Pakistan conferred upon her the Pride of Performance Award for Literature in 2002. Ada Jafarey was the recipient of the Kamal e Fan Award by the Pakistan Academy of Letters in 2003. She is the recipient of various international awards from literary societies in North America and Europe.

Jafri was born in Badayun, India, in 1924. She migrated to Karachi with her husband after the partition of the subcontinent.

Her real name was Aziz Jahan. She adopted her pen name after marriage.

Ada Jafri was the first major published woman poet in Urdu which was why she was often referred to as the first lady of Urdu poetry. Although she dabbled in different genres of literature, including the short story, she was primarily known as a ghazal writer.
