Unmanned Chinese helicopter to be produced for civilian use - People's Daily OnlineDecember 08, 2010
The system is designed for more than four hours of endurance, with a 3,000 meter service ceiling, 750 kg. maximum takeoff weight and 80 kg. mission payload. There is a clear ship-based role for the system.
The V750 unmanned helicopter, built with an engine that is the intellectual property of a Chinese company, will achieve mass production in Shandong. The prototype was shown in public at the previous Zhuhai International Air Show.
Cheng Shenzong, chairman of Weifang Tianxiang Technology Group, said the V750 unmanned helicopter project aims to meet the rising demand for unmanned helicopters.
This unmanned helicopter is jointly developed by China's four units and now has been put into mass production after orders were placed. These ordered products are mainly for civilian uses, such as marine pollution monitoring and forest fire monitoring.
The current international advanced unmanned helicopter technology is mainly monopolized by the United States and Israel.
Aviation technology expert Bai Yan, who participated in the research and development of the unmanned helicopter, said that at present the current Third World countries generally do not have the ability to develop unmanned helicopter systems. The main barriers are that the helicopter flying platform is not mature and there is a necessity to procure unmanned helicopter engines from abroad.
According to market analysis, the largest market demand is for unmanned helicopters with a carrying capacity of 100 kilograms or more, and the maximum capacity of the V750 unmanned helicopter reached to 750 kilograms. Therefore, its specifications can better meet current market demand.
