What is happening out there is completely counter intuitive. The universe contrary to perception doesn't have a constant energy density rather it's density is increasing with increasing expansion which further positively effects more dark energy.

Note: Humans can however travel beyond speed of light if the warp drive concept becomes real !

Sparsing of the space i.e. the star will be farther from each other than today and if you survive another billion years, you will see far less number stars in the night sky....you will be really alone.

no.. its not the galaxies,.. its the universe.. that means the distance of each galaxy from other galaxies is increasing but the galaxies themselves r not balloning,.. and the stars we see in the sky r from the same galaxy, milky way,.. so it will remain the same as they keep on revolving around the giant black hole Sagittarius A,..

Most of our galaxy is gas and this gas wont consumed that fast not even 10 billion year.

Also notice I mentioned the gather of the Milky way and the Andromeda within few billion years that will lit the sky of our earth if it survive that collision.

What make you think it depressing actually it free your imagination to think about other worlds of all kind.

Just take a look to the galaxies and imagine how many intelligent creatures at there and what kind of civilization teaming in all these distant islands that spread out in the seeing and none seeing universe.

What's the written history of humans ? 4000...10000 years ? We are talking about hundreds of millions years. If we had not killed our selves till then....I believe we can colonize other planets, travel across stars and galaxies.
