United States is strengthening military relations with Bangladesh

Well what if USA sell it to cheap price for strategic relationship ? I have almost no idea about combat aircraft . Just read some aircraft price from Wikipedia.
And I am not talking about raptor 22, but talking about f 16.
Aren't they still good aircrafts with reasonable price compared to others?
yes they will give discount even free but you have to do few things only
open your country to CIA
open your country to NSA
give full rights to make and operate airbases in bangladesh
follow their instruction in every voting and support they need in international bodies
follow them in every war they go fight
open your country to for USN - USAF -US army when ever wherever they want to use your country
singn CISMOA
sign COMCASA
sign GSOMIA
sign BECA
sing LEMOA
and most important USA will have every right to interfere in your domestic - political - diplomatic matters .

if you agree they will be your buddy and transfer you bugged weapons with lots of restrictions .

.
Interesting happenings.

Mostly inconsequential in the end probably.

The only way things may be of significance is if the US sees Bangladesh playing any kind of role in this whole
"Indo-Pacific" re-orientation of its policy.

If thats the case, its not neccisarily a good thing for Bangladesh as it will be used as a pawn for possibly some trinkets thrown its way by the US.

On the other hand, Bangladesh does need to choose the China or US camp at some point, especially if its economy continues to improve in the years ahead.

Should that day come BD would have to probably choose China because of the proximity.... but such a choice won’t be necessary for atleast 50 years at the earliest.

China is no where near to challenging the US yet.

For the it’s USA on any global issue all the way.

. . .
US price of any partnership will be too high like a USN Naval Base in BD.
I am hearing this Naval Base in BD type of talk from our people since Pakistan time. Can anyone cite a US foreign ministry or a newspaper report on this? Many of BD people talk about it just to self-flatter the importance of their country. Why the USA needs a base in a cyclone-prone poor country? It has bases in other countries including the one in Diego Garcia south of SL.

I think your 2 month ignore from me just about comes to an end now.:D

Let us look at a map of where Deigo Garcia is:

Do you see why USN would dearly love a base in BD? It would perfectly checkmate China trying to bypass the Malacca straights by using the port built in Arakan. Diego Garcia is just too far away

BD is big enough(160+ million population) that it does not really need to align with anyone and it just needs to build up it''s strength and have decent relations with US, EU, Turkey, Russia, China and Japan in order to prosper both economically and militarily.

I have no idea why some BD posters think BD needs to align with anyone in order to prosper.

Oh!! I am soooo flattered that Your Excellency has finally decided to remove me from the ignore list. But, since when you have become the Chief Spokesman for the US foreign policy? Stupids like you always think BD at the center of the Universe. The entire civilization is certainly revolving around BD because it is infested with many ignorant bugs like you. Learn better things than trying to read and understand the US foreign policy.

The US has already closed its Subic Bay naval base in the Philippines. But, the core question remains how much the host country was benefitted with a US base on its land? The major areas of contention are the southwest Pacific, and the US has naval base facilities in Japan, South Korea, and Guam.

American troops are deployed to 14 Middle Eastern and North African countries: Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain.

Diego Garcia included the United States has military bases in around 150 countries. The number of bases in total exceeds 1,000 worldwide, many of them are located in the Middle East. I wish since you have pinpointed the important location of BD, the US will now find it out on the map with the help of a binocular from the sky.

Do you think the USA has been begging for a base in BD only because it is at the center of the Universe? But, the Americans do not see BD the way you see it. You must be living in a fantasy world.

Can see the quality of your posting is not improving since I last interacted with you.

Rather than resorting to insults due to butt-hurt, try to see how a base in BD would help US check-mate it's only geopolitical rival China. Think Malacca straight. Think oil and gas and think general trade. Most of all just think.

.
Like inkjet printer, they are cheap to buy initially but the money is in the long term weapon, training costs etc ( like ink cartridges)...that US puts as fine print gravy train for itself.

Still formidable fighter with a lot of potential and decent performance and their operational costs is not too expensive

Keep on dreaming absurd things. But, let the US talk about all those securities in the Malacca Straits and oil and gas. Indonesia, Brunei, and Malaysia have oil and gas and not BD. The USA has a practical presence in the nearby areas such as Guam, Okinawa, mainland Japan, and South Korea.

BD does not stand strong in importance to the US. It is BD that needs security for its foreign trade, so it should build up its forces even to tackle the threat from a small Burma. The USA needs no base in Teknaf when it is already softening its presence even in the west Pacific.

Let me ask you one question. What benefits BD will get of a presence of US military on its soil except that the spoilers like the ISIS and Taliban will get a good cause to destabilize our region.

Nah. I would stick with the West.

As corrupt and "bad" as the West is.....a dominant China scares me for some reason.

At least in the West there is a segment of the population (i.e. the LEFT) that as crazy as they are sometimes, is at least a voice of dissent for policies and actions that may be oppresive.

With China, I don't see that as being the case.

I can not put my thoughts into words on this topic effectively but I hope you know what I am trying to say.

I am not asking for free, I am asking for discount. Well if we need to be their puppet then I strongly disagree . But if without such right of interfere we can be their strategic ally , then I am fine with it .
Yes in a relationship we also have to compromise , but that never against our freedom . And if USA agree then it can be a mutual bond , if not then no way .

What makes you think Bangladesh is any different from any other country.

Its asymmetric my friend.

The US holds most if not all leverage in the relationship.

Whether its Bangladesh or Egypt or whoever.
