Disagree. The problem is that Republican already have a strategy. All they need to do is round up all the minorities into solid blue states while making rural states so hostile that minorities will never move there. They can draw districts such that all the blue voters are clustered in a few districts while having narrow Republican majorities in multiple rural districts. They will also start appealing to self hating Latinos and Asians. They have already used this to great success. They don't need to win it all, they just need to win at the margins, as this election showed. Democrats are timid conservatives and are unable to stop them except with an overwhelming mandate.
As you see from the Congress election results, there has been no repudiation of Trump policies. Tom, Mike and Steve are not going anywhere. 2024 is coming.
I won’t say this is untrue, but the declining middle class is forcing people from blue states to move to red states. Blacks have moved to Metro Atlanta and the Carolinas is large numbers. Many poor or modestly middle class liberals (Whites, Asians, Desis, and Latinos) have moved to Texas and Colorado to stretch their dollars, heck even to Idaho, Montana and the Dakotas. Nevada and Arizona being right over the border from California is prime real estate for former Californians that take a flight to California and work the week and fly home to Nevada and Arizona.
Many of these minorities would have rather stayed in their safer Blue states but economics forced these economic migrants to look for greener and more affordable pastures.
Republicans will definitely try to Gerrymander districts to keep themselves in as many offices as possible. The results of the 2020 census will soon be out and you can bet there will be only just enough liberals in their districts to be marginalized on a statewide and nationwide basis. But demographics are changing 2042 is only a little over two decades away. If Joe Biden wins he will try to get that pathway to citizenship for the undocumented and solidify the democratic base in the southwest.
When forced to, Republicans will cool down on the dog whistle racial rhetoric and try to whitewash the Latinos and Asians and even Arabs to think they are now in the white club, as they did with Italians a couple of generations ago and the Irish a couple of generations before that. Democrats need to also have a solid working class strategy, consider how poor the middle class has gotten due to Reagonomics. Identity politics may not work for the democrats forever, but it mot like it’s the mirror opposite of what the republicans have been doing.
before 2024, there will be 2022. democrats need to get on a tax and build infrastructure plan to lower the cost of living and make housing affordable for young people and working class people. Two years of millions of good union paying infrastructure jobs may help them come back and take the senate. Democrats should also be bold and literally rebuild their base as they help America “Build Back Better.”
