Ungrateful Nation

Beyond my understanding how will gunship helicopter pond a post for hours depsite Pakistan govt asking them to stop

Seems it was incompetence at commanding level and simply reports were hidden to avoid the embracement..happened to afghanis more than a dozen times even candian got a spanking

After the initial firing upon, NATO forces made many mistakes, no doubt, but so did the Pakistani side. The initial firing came from a location - no doubt about that triggering incident.

Were you on ground that you say no doubt ?
I will not claim anything that i dont know

But fact is straight forward USA forces were at no risk with no injuries or any causalities (or risk of) regardless whther they were fired or not and responsibility of verifying friendly fire lay upon them..completely aboslhing a post in Pakistani area without asking questions is simply not acceptable

This event was the beginning of failure of a successful Afghan war..with so much improvement till 2010 was simply poured down the drain due to lack of intelligence sharing, resurge of opium, corruption, prompting of third party agenda , lack of equal poltical rights, war lords prompting , reigniting a settled boarder and full scale drone attacks rather than targeted simply led to more recruits and resulted in what is now for sure victory for the taliban..only thing being discussed is how much and when? Remember just talking to terrorists /talibans is nothing short of defeat....

They will never be forgotten, indeed the time will come when those who caused it will suffer the same fate, it's already cost them Afghanistan,
Its already costing them a lot more the world doesn't know about

I am going by the findings of the official report which established the instigating incident and the errors on both sides quite clearly. Further, a whole set of measures to improve communications in order to avoid any such incidents in the future were implemented by both sides.

In addition, the fact remains that the incident started when NATO forces came under fire from the identified location while conducting an operation, and was subsequently complicated by a number of errors on both sides.

Please do keep in mind the above.
I will be happy to be proven wrong. but regretfully it is impossible given what I have learnt. for me its beyond doubt that the attack was premeditated what is not clear is if it was the action by local US commanders in Afghanistan or if this was sanctioned from Pentagon or even the White house.

Bless all hearts that think it was an error on Pakistani side ( err and maybe American) and justify American attack instead of contacting the Pakistanis to cease fire which is a normal protocol in such situations
Internet is littered with videos where British Canadian and their own troops have come under fire with fatal consequences but difference with this incident was that Americans didn't return to finish off the injured in follow up attacks but halted immediately and some are recorded crying over the radio.

bless the hearts of those too who believe that US/ Afghan forces conducting an operation inside Afghanistan were within range of Pakistani check posts who had had no weapon beyond 2 km and had no reason or means to engage them.

that said, silver lining is that visiting American commanders pay their respects to the memorial in GHQ and until writing this post no American official past and present has said that yes Americans did it on purpose to teach Pakistan a lesson.

Unless you wish to, care to or can share what you have learnt, most respected Sir, the nidus of the incident will remain the source of the initial firing upon NATO forces. God Bless Us All, indeed.

because numerous times taliban raided these posts and took weapons..imagine getting Hands on these and using it against a civilian airliner
Lets hope atleast shoulder fired sams are with troops now as they no longer face dangers from inside..

Also may be some one shud look into integration of infrared devices on manpads so they can be used at night...

Atleast will keep helis away

you will only get the laughs. why beg for sympathy from the world
what world by the way? that is dictated by self interests and skeletons in everyone's closet.

it cost them a lot more than war. they ensured that there will never be any support from Pakistan and the Kabul regime is fall on its face the moment their troops are pulled out. then it will be their nemesis Iran, China and Russia running the show ... India? somebody said? they will also have to packup once the Penjsheris put the loot in their pickup trucks and make a dash to the north.

you must be joking. the American pilots did exactly what they were told to do.
there was never a confusion or a mistake. their return to kill off the survivors goes to show the entire attack was premeditated.
and in the end they blamed it on Pakistan. they had full information from Pakistan about the weapons available to the the biggest threat was from 12.7mm so they just stayed out of its range and destroyed the posts.

Hi,

The Salala incidence proved my brother right---. He had told Musharraf not to promote him---'Kiyani has no guts'---Mush did not listen to him even though he was close to Mush.

Even if one agree to your claim of error it still could not justified NATO forces going back to Finish the Job when they were informed.

Of course they would pay their respects and deny such actions...this is the art of diplomacy....

Sir can you share the approximate distance b/w Pakistan Post and alleged site where NATO was doing operation.

It is 7th year since that fateful night on which North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) helicopters killed at least 28 security personnel and injured 12 soldiers on a Pakistani check post in Salala, which is located in the Tehsil Bayzai area of Mohmand Agency on the Pak-Afghan border.
One Major and One Captain including 26 other soldiers did got martyrdom while fighting their allies and that too for those who don't even remember them today.
We are sorry for loss of their lives to them and their loved one's that too for ungrateful lot like us,who don't even remember them today.

@Irfan Baloch @django @Areesh @Signalian
@Horus @RescueRanger

The question here is did they fought back and killed or injured the attackers.

Did their institution retaliated.

How is the nation to be blamed or ungrateful.
