gyong pass is west to siachin glacier..it is not on siachin glacier.

India maybe commanding higher peaks on Siachin Glacier but how does this freezing glacier benefit India? Access to K2 and surrounding peaks has been blocked with Pakistan in control of Gyong la pass which overlooks towards Ladakh and Karakoram highway is too far from Siachen Glacier.

Had it not been important, Pakistan would not have made multiple attempts to dislodge India from there, including the ones that were the most spectacular failures or the Commando General's army career in Pakistan

Whats with Indians bullshitting here regarding Siachen ? Indian forces occupied Siachen glacier way back in 1985, much before Kargil so their invasion resulted in a counter response by Pakistani forces in 1999. Had their forces didn't occupied the glacier, I doubted Kargil would had taken place and also the Pakistan backed Kashmiri insurgency in later 1980s.

Justifying occupation of Siachen for Kargil incident by maggot Indian posters in this topic is horse shit and perhaps the views of illiterate juveniles.

Correct... Even Operation Gibraltar and Grand-slam were in response to India's move in Siachin.

:o::o::o:
he was just spoken in UN... not in the street. there is noting courageous in speaking in UN.

You got everything mixed up buddy...on streets during the election campaign it's easy to bash on issues promises and reminders .....totally different ballgame when you're standing on the podium of UN general assembly..
Big country with small hearts folks with small mindset would need years to appreciate or criticize on merit....

.
the only solution is Azad Kashmir should be integrated back to India through diplomatic talks. Consult Kashmiris, and Hurriyat does not represent all Kashmiris.

I haven't bothered to read NS speech nor anyone else on this thread. Since what nawaz says or doesn't say counts for nothing ( he has no say in running Pakistan, the orders come from the other sharif ). What I was surprised about was the millions of statements coming from the Pakistan govt, military and its controlled media about how Pakistan is about to detonate irrefutable evidence of India's involvement in the voracious terror machine that GCHQ created and is half heartedly fighting to keep the dollars flowing in. Fight the bad terrorist, protect the "good" terrorist.
We will show the world, they shout and beat their chests. We will present the "evidence" to the UN, the US, and the homeless guy cowering in the streets of Munich.
When the crunch day comes, all the bravado turns into one of Nawaz,s embarrassing farts after a one too many biriyani

Preview to Indian response (that is if GOI bothers to respond to this nonsense)

1. We propose Pakistan and India formalise and respect 2003 understanding of a complete ceasefire in Kashsmir and LoC

1. OK

2. We propose Pakistan and India reaffirm that they will not resort to the threat of force under any circumstances
2. Right after Pakistan affirms that it will ensure zero infiltration from its side into Indian side of LoC

3. Steps must be taken to demilitarise Kashmir
3. Proposing to demilitarize a border state with 2 rival countries is actually not just stupid, but almost retarded. Lets see Pakistan try to demilitarize Balochistan or KPK

4. Agree to mutually withdraw troops from Siachen
4. Go suck a lemon (or something equivalent)

Except the first point...I reject all the other three.

Nawaz Sharif proposed four point agenda to defuse tension between Pakistan and India.

He proposed that Pakistan and India formalize and respect the 2003 understanding for a complete ceasefire on the Line of Control in Kashmir.

Three generations of Kashmiris have only seen broken promises, he said.

“Consultations with Kashmiris, are essential to evolving a peaceful solution,” he said.

For this purpose, he called for UNMOGIP’s expansion to monitor the observance of the ceasefire.

You folks probably missed the above highlighted apart of UNMOGIP’s expansion to monitor the observance of the ceasefire.

With this caveat the proposal 1 is dead on arrival as India no longer recognizes UNMOGIP.

unexpectedly it was a good show by PM, gotta give credit where its due

You have become a grown man today!!!! Congrats on turning 18!!! Unexpectedly, he's brought a bankrupt nation investments of $ 46 billion dollars, while the remainder of ALL politicians, combined, at this time, can't bring in $ 400 MILLION dollars!!!!
Unexpectedly, he was elected for the third time by the people. Unexpectedly, he took a bankrupt nation with $ 11 million left, to having over $ 20 billion in her checking account (not counting Gold, Euro and Dollar reserves)!!! Unexpectedly he's got GSP+ for Pakistan and unexpectedly, he's going to eliminate the terrorism and electric issues inside the country by 2018. And Unexpectedly, the CPEC phase 1 will become functioning by 2018-2019!!!

Its a significant step down from all previous demands, quite a diplomatic play, looks like Sharif seriously wants to rewrite his legacy but I am not too optimistic for a solution in an India that is fixated with Modi's 56 inch chest. He has to play to an audience that is counting on him to deliver two things:

1. Business
2. Power Projection

And a good deal of number 2 involves disengaging with Pakistan. Although they might think its a good strategy for now, it is myopic and also will result in no results so its as good as the status quo.

This is a critical time for Pakistan to NOT get involved in ANY adventure with India. India on the other hand, WANTS a limited war as they know they'll push Pakistan back by 20 years and her defense forces will also be sent back by years. Imagine 40 -16's destroyed and 30 JFT's taken out (no matter how many SU-30's they take out).......

So this is a GREAT diplomatic way to show the world that Pakistan doesn't want war. No matter what you say about NS, he's a VERY sharp politician and diplomat. He's done this to Saudia on Yemen, he's aligned with Russia and China well and now he's aligned himself with the world on showing "we are peaceful". He wants to buy the next 5-7 years conflict free so he can fulfill his real agenda. The growth of Pakistan into a modern, peaceful and one of the top growing economies. Right this second, the leadership Pakistan needed, is there for the first time in history. The next few years have to go by without a way so Pakistan can take a few big steps up on the economic ladder!! And the good part is, the militry is in total synch with the civilians for once. Gen Raheel wants Pakistan to grow and he's following NS's direction on India. Very cool stuff. This is what I refer to "a system" and it's working!!

Shows who is interested in peace and who is not.

btw very logical and doable agenda, shows statesmanship and sincerity from Pakistan side while Modi is busy pushing/pulling people aside to get in the photos..
