UN ignores Pakistan bid to seek intervention on Kashmir?

Another option can be both Indian & Pakistan give up and make Kashmir an Independent country.
No...Not gonna happen...If Pakistan wants to give up..that's your choice...India has already made its choice..Kashmir is a part of free India.

true that
just because UN doesnt take as much proactive action like it does on other issues , doesnt mean we should stop seeking this jobsworth and namesworth organisation.

without this platform there is no place and only other way left is to settle disputes like barbarians

Pakistan's problem is not in seeking things, from the UN or anyone else, it is in the wallowing in a state of delusion. Pakistanis simply have unrealistic expectations that can't be met. Take the point of dialogue with India on Kashmir in general or Siachen in particular. Pakistan expects what really? That India will give Pakistan on a plate during talks what Pakistan failed to wrest from India by force? What does Pakistan bring to the table? I have never ever got an answer of what it is that Pakistan brings to a table during discussions except for its demands. Expecting something for nothing is astonishing in its irrationality.

I don't know how Indian can say "Kashmir is & will remain part of India" when parts of it are under control of Pakistan & China. For how long you will keep fooling your kids that India shares borders with Afghanistan by feeding them wrong maps.

While the status quo serves India better than it does Pakistan, there is no doubt that resolving Kashmir will provide India with a huge politico-economic boost that will only help it on the larger world stage, if that is indeed what it wants.
Mr. Haider..you are one of the more sane guys on this forum(Comparing both Indians and Pakistanis)...Let me ask you..lets say the roles were reversed..would Pakistan agree to what you are saying or suggesting...In any negotiation the country/person with the upper hand (in this case India)..is in a better situation to ask what it wants..No.

What we refer to is the part which is in our control. regardless of maps & statements made, there is no active interest in changing the status quo.

Ok let me clarify...The part under INDIA will remain part of India and Part under Pakistan can remain under Pakistan..i.e. if you want to keep it...thats your choice..we have made ours....And by the way we never knew that India under the control of GOI shared a border with Afghanistan...maybe the disputed part yes.

Pakistan wont agree to it

That is where the art of negotiations as part of international geopolitics can work miracles.

I am quite sure that Pakistan can come to the table and accept a suitable outcome. It all depends on what the overall negotiated packages contains for both sides.

You should give AK and G-B independence. There are a couple of positives for Pakistan in it. 1. No more LOC so no more firings. 2. There will a tremendous amount of pressure on India to follow suit. Right now, I think the world view is that they'd be taking Kashmir from India and giving it to Pakistan. As you can imagine, based on the current situation in both countries, nobody is going to want to do that. When there is an Independent Kashmir, the world is going to side with it and expect India to allow its part of Kashmir to join the new state.

Absolutely agree that there should be a give and take....I for one feel this whole Kashmir fight is for control of water...In that case/ scenario..both India and Pakistan ... should have equal control(On the water source) with an independent working committee...that has no GOI or GOP interference at all....but again who is GOP?..that needs to be defined.

There is much more to Kashmir than just water resources.

Rising populations and demands for water will become increasingly important for sure, but war or other means to try to change the status quo will not produce any effective solutions for the coming shortages. It has to be a co-operative solution, and for that to be even contemplated, both sides will have to change their security outlook towards each other. That is a tall order indeed.

I sure hope one day that happens...That will happen but I hope before there is anymore bloodshed..as they say no great change has ever occurred without a revolution or war.
