Well no one cares about "arrival" of Islam. Invaders didn't come to "spread Islam" ... They came for their own purposes. Islam spreaded in India due to peaceful Sufi Saints... Islam taught Indians how to see each and every human as "equal" , not on the basis of some stupid caste system of them...Indians who were peaceful , dignified people (our ancestors) converted to Islam and started seeing everyone as equal. Gave women their rights and didn't burn them alive due to the death of their husband etc ... Elite hindus , that exploited the society and divided them into "lower caste" remain hindus (your ancestors) and kept exploiting Hindus uptil recently. Even now there are "untouchables" in your country , isn't it?

Indian Muslims became muslims not too long ago. Islamic empire caliphates never went there (see the map). Some Indians became muslims through the influence of Mughul era 1500s, Hydrabad Nizam (dynasty founded under Mughul emperors) 1700s And the funny thing is there is not a single state in India that compromise as a Muslim majority not even today. i.e 24% in Kerala, 33% Assam, 25% in Bengal, 19% in U.P 16% in Bihar and rest as single digits in other states.

Islam in Sindh, Pakistan was brought in 711 A.D. DIRECTLY by the Ummayad Dynasty, the same Dynasty that brought Islam in Persia... the same place--- where mughuls in later years originated from to rule over India...
The point i want to make here is that Islam in Pakistan came long before it did in India. Indian Muslims are not the same as Sindhi, Punjabi or Balochi, Pashtun Muslims.
Islam also spread to Multan in Southern Punjab by the same Dynasty in 711-713 A.D. This city became a centre of the Ismaili sect of Islam.
Sufism too has a strong tradition in Pakistan. The Muslim Sufi missionaries played a pivotal role in converting the millions of native people to Islam. As in other areas where Sufis introduced it, Islam to some extent syncretized with pre-Islamic influences, resulting in a religion with some traditions distinct from other parts of the Muslim world. The Naqshbandiya, Qadiriya, Chishtiya and Suhrawardiyya silsas (Muslim Orders) have a large following in Pakistan. Sufis whose shrines receive much national attention are Data Ganj Baksh (Ali Hajweri) in Lahore (ca. 11th century), Baha-ud-din Zakariya in Multan and Shahbaz Qalander in Sehwan (ca. 12th century) and Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai in Bhit, Sindh and Rehman Baba in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

The culture of India across was a disjoint polity and not always a central leadership and thats exactly why our frontier states couldn't handle the invasion well.
