UK ready to join CPEC: HC

UK can invest in Pakistan in free trade zones under CPEC. They can open 1 or 2 branches of factories in Pakistan that are exporting to China with little more marginal rates..

factories exporting TO china? what can UK produce that China wants to import from a branch factory in Pakistan? and even if there are some - wont it make sense to actually out that factory in China itself? why put in Pakistan and then export to China?

We are quite benevolent and business minded nowadays.
Moreover, when we ruled the subcontinent our empire in south Asia was called British India. Pakistan was never a country back then even after we gave our former united India empire independence if I remember correctly.So what's the issue with "former and current imperialists" ?

UK is welcome to do business in Pakistan. The current UK is not responsible for what happened in the past. Instead of looking back and being bitter, let's build a better future together

why put in Pakistan and then export to China?

Because UK can put them in Free Trade Zones or any Industrial Estate to avoid taxes, land and other expenditures. If they put in China, They still have to pay tax, land and other expenses.

Thats old one... not all of route is being loan-financed by China. Part of the route is financed by ADB and UK. UK obviously that portion of road only which is a grant

They collect large amount from tax payers, then they gives some portion of money to country like Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia,Palestine etc. Basically tax payers money.

Point was that UK has shown its interest in CPEC long way back and post BREXIT its CPEC who is one good option for them to increase their trade and cater for what all they had lost.

While China is a large manufacturer of finished goods it is a largest importer of raw materials , machinery and high technology...most of the high tech imported by China originates from USA, Germany, Britain, France, Japan etc.

Most of the semi conductors are made in China but the technology to produce rare earth metals into high tech devices is largely western...on level of industrialization...Chinese economy would be rated at Tier 2. That is is has self reliance in manufacturing of finished goods but it is at large dependent on import of technology necessary for producing these goods.
