The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been seeking to buy an unknown number of F-35 Lightning II fifth-generation fighter jets, said in the report byi24NEWS.

According to the Israeli news portal, the UAE seeks to purchase its own fleet of the advanced F-35 fighter jets, built by US defense giant Lockheed Martin, and amid reports of a burgeoning Israeli-Gulf alliance against Iran.

The UAE is building one of the most modern armed forces in the region and for this purpose visited Israel to review operations of the advanced US-made F-35 fighter jets. A delegation from the USA was also present at the time of the UAE visit to Nevatim Air Base in Israel.

However, there is no official confirmation of both the visit of the UAE delegation to Israel and the negotiations on the F-35 at the moment.

The F-35 Lightning II is a 5th Generation fighter, combining advanced stealth with fighter speed and agility, fully fused sensor information, network-enabled operations, and advanced sustainment. Israel is the only country in the Middle East to have the F-35 fighter jet, where they are operated by the IAF’s Golden Eagle Squadron, based in the Nevatim Air Base in the center of the country.

The deliveries of F-35 have just started and they would be last in line if they ever go for it. Also, there would be a strong opposition from Israel as they've always had the most modern and best weapons platforms in the region so far and they wouldn't wanna loose that advantage

that is true .

It was always a question of time before GCC states (largest economic market in the region by far, most wealthy states, big buyers of weaponry of late etc.) would acquire the F-35. Especially as other markets (Russia and China for instance) are having/developing a much bigger footprint in the region in terms of weapons exports and cooperation with the likes of KSA and UAE in particular.

No sane entity is going to attack USrael (outpost of USA and the West) anyway. The Mullah's next door have taken this mantel post 1979 and "post-Arab nationalism" (read, USSR sponsored socialism as every Arab is an nationalistic individual) but despite the tremendous barking, they have not even fired a single bullet.

Arming local Shia Arabs in tiny Southern Lebanon (in this case Hezbollah) does not count as it is no big deal at all. The same Hezbollah does not pose an existential threat to Israel either other than giving Israel some very light scratches on their little finger.

world defense market is getting ridiculous .humans paying trillions to be safe from other humans

The situation today is much more peaceful than ever in history. The only problem is that when trouble occurs, humans have much greater firepower at their disposal today.

BTW the entire region should be armed with nuclear weapons. This would ensure safety and stability. When have two nuclear armed states ever fought a full-blown war?

For all it is worth, I am a proponent of a pan-Arab nuclear umbrella.

In a perfect world, all Arab countries should coordinate their weapons purchases as well. No Arab-Arab (between states) conflicts should be allowed either.

Most importantly, Arab nations (KSA and UAE are taking the lead on this front of late) should cooperate closely on indigenous projects. If everyone decided to work together for mutually beneficial outcomes, the combined wealth, resources, brain capacity etc. would result in tremendous outcomes and complete self-sufficeincy would not be many decades away.

Useless leaders, this is the problem.

The likes of KSA, Iraq and Egypt for instance should work 1000 times closer on such crucial fronts (arms industry).

Hi,
Not poking my nose in your internal matters - - - may peace and prosperity be unto you good folks!

Sir you seem to be a bigwig or atleast someone who has a say in his country's affairs to some extent.

I beg you to plz do something about the water crisis in Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan. Like I just go to the kitchen, turn on the tap and fill my glass-----. It's that simple . Don't even have to filter or boil the water - - - - - -.

Not aware of those water crisis and not sure what it has to do with KSA or Arabs (other than Sudan but I doubt that they have any current droughts otherwise I would have heard about it) but for sure that would/should be a topic of discussion and be solved as well naturally if it is the case.

We all know. that the UAE is in advanced negotiations with the US to procure the F-35..and that KSA is involved too.. but why would the UAE experts go to Usrael to see the F-35 instead of going to the US!!!? It just doesn't make any sense..

Because Israel invited them... Because Israel is closer and they UAE were allowed to have a look....

Good-looking aircraft and after seeing it in person for the first time about a month ago, it's starting to become a lot more likeable to me, just as far as looks are concerned. Definitely a pudgy aircraft but there must be a good reason why so many countries want it and are buying it. Good luck to the UAE and Saudiya InshaAllah you will get it and be the first Arab countries to operate it.
