UAE launches aid air bridge for Gazans

Following Shaikh Mohammad’s directives, a plane with relief material arrives in Amman

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the launch of an air bridge to deliver emergency aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

Following Shaikh Mohammad’s directives, a Boeing 747 cargo plane carrying 114 tonnes of humanitarian aid arrived in Marka international airport in Amman early morning on Monday.

The move is in solidarity with the Palestinians who suffer from difficult humanitarian conditions under the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Meanwhile, relief and humanitarian agencies operating in the International Humanitarian City in Dubai have embarked on the mission to send relief supplies to people affected by Israeli aggression.

Relief supplies have been donated to the United Nations Relief Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to distribute them to the displaced families in Gaza.

UNRWA Commissioner General Pierre Krahenbuhl thanked Shaikh Mohammad for the great support for the UN agency

Emirates Red Crescent inks Dh150m deal for Gaza reconstruction

Nation’s commitment to standing by the Palestinian people reaffirmed

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) signed a Dh150 million agreement with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to rebuild and reconstruct the Gaza Sector.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and President of the ERC, attended the signing of the agreement.

He reiterated the UAE’s fundamental and historical commitment to standing by the Palestinian people and supporting their humanitarian issues.

The agreement was signed by Dr Hamdan Musallam Al Mazroui, Chairman of the ERC, and Peter Ford, Representative of the Commissioner-General of the UNRWA.

“The UAE’s leadership and people are following the painful events and what is happening in Gaza with deep sorrow and hence the wise leadership has spared no effort to harness and mobilise all the potential to support the Palestinian brethren and mobilisation to stand by their side and help them overcome the plight without reminding them of favours,” Shaikh Hamdan said.

UN aid airlift starts from Dubai to Gaza
Israeli bombardment has displaced up to 100,000 Palestinians from the enclave

Up to 100,000 Palestinians have been displaced in the relentless Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, the UN said yesterday.

While political efforts were afoot to reach a ceasefire amid the Israeli barrage from the land, sea and air on the strip, which is categorised as among the most densely populated areas in the world, several UN agencies have started sending aid to those in dire need, a UN statement added.

The Israeli attacks are threatening to spill into a 15th day on Tuesday.

The UN said in a statement: “Under the direction of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, a special airlift in support of displaced families in Gaza began on Sunday from Dubai, where a 747 cargo took off carrying 115 metric tonnes of aid, containing 45,000 mattresses, 10,000 blankets and 220 hygiene kits. The plane landed at Marka International Airport in Amman early on Monday, 21 July.”

Large numbers of civilians have taken refuge in the schools where the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Gaza has set up aid camps.

The displaced people are enduring tough conditions amid a lack of water, food and basic hygiene. UNRWA has appealed for help to meet the basic needs of people flocking to the aid camps.

The aid consignment from Dubai was sent from the supplies stocked at the International Humanitarian City. Agencies involved in the efforts include the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN World Food Programme (WFP)/UN Humanitarian Response Depot), the UN Children’s Fund, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Emirates Red Crescent.

“In the coming days, more airlifts are scheduled to arrive in Amman, from where UNRWA will truck the aid into Gaza for distribution. UNRWA plans to expand the scope of the donations to include emergency food parcels as stocks of food and other essential goods dwindle,” the UN statement added.

Several hundreds have been killed and thousands injured in the Israeli attacks, the vast majority of them Palestinian civilians.

UAE should keep its money rather than spend it on Hamas, tomorrow Hazzy and his ungrateful kind will start bashing UAE and GCC, so why waste money on these people.

You shouldn't say that. They are your Arab brothers and in effect your own people. Can you really blame them for their frustration?? They don't even have a country anymore and if that's not enough they are butchered relentlessly in that concentration camp known as the Gaza strip.

Forget about Hamas or any other group there. That's not the main point here brother. It's the civilians and Gaza as a whole that suffers and we ought to help them economically because that's actually what the Muslim world can do for now. Let people be ungrateful - they themselves will realize their mistakes at some point in life. At least we can hope that.

The GCC should take pride in being one if not the main donors in the world after the US to humanitarian and other areas. This is just 1 out of many examples. We could have kept all that money ourselves and moved forward even further but we don't. We were always hospitable people this is in our blood. All Arabs were that traditionally and it is emphasized in our culture greatly. Especially the Arabian one as you know already.

Do not let ungrateful people make you act differently.

Aid is good but not a single word against Israel and US from Saudis or any other Arab states. Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and few others are only vocal against wholesale massacre. People should remember Saudi nexus with Israel to keep occupation and royal power over holy land.

He's taking politics too seriously. If we talk politics though, if we supported them on Syria and Iraq which jeopardized Hamas relations with Iran in return they(Egypt, GCC) call Hamas a terrorist group, declare MB terrorist group and close the border forever against Gaza. Start making up lies how Hamas is killing hundreds of Egyptian soldiers and they start talking with Israel.

Don't take these people seriously when it comes to politics. They do some humanitarian things which is a policy. This is why our hadith says Imam Mahdi will come and the ruling power in Saudi Arabia will try killing him. But, God is going to destroy them at that time. Confused people like @JUBA will realize this eventually and repent to God.

For those who say this is anti-Saudi post, it isn't. The imam will be of Saudi linage himself.

GCC, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are the same thing. It isn't Egypt's own decision to say it will not put any Palestinian conditions on the cease fire proposal. This is a decision known and approved by all those parties. So they want to intentionally prolong this offensive hoping Hamas will be toppled. If they tell us we are liars then prove us wrong. Amend the proposal which is just an exit strategy for Israel and will not change anything on the ground for Palestinians in gaza.

Considering their retarded behavior I am close to reaching such a opinion myself but then I remember that fellow Muslims and Arabs are attacked. Whatever happens then the donations will keep arriving (KSA leading when it comes to Palestine historically by far) and by far most people will support their case.

But I do agree that ungrateful people should be exposed and not helped further. At the end of the day we need to do what suits our OWN people first before looking towards foreigners. Like anyone else does. A lot of those donations that came from peoples pockets went to corrupt states etc. We have our own problems that need to be sorted out too.

Stop over-reacting for no reason in Ramadan. You should posted this link earlier. That being said, a lot of people believe there is an Arab scheme against Hamas. If you believe this is misinformation spread by Israeli sources that don't fall for the trap.

Don't get your head wrapped up much. Arabs are known to get hot headed here and there. It seems the Arab nations are starting to work at the UN council. Latest news is there is going to be a meeting tomorrow which may be a game changer. But, then it may not.

This isn't about the people of GCC or Saudi Arabia or Egypt. Most people have no say in the policies of their governments. But, it's clear by now that Sisi is fine with this prolonging and doesn't wan to open the border. More importantly, he doesn't want to amend the cease fire proposal. Why? Qatar/Turkey want to make it more balanced. Egypt/Saudi/GCC don't want to. I don't know if this is because the usual MB vs this camp thing. But, it is stupid.

It's almost like there is a false atmosphere that Egypt and Hamas hate each other, it isn't true. They used to work together just fine. They know each other well. Maybe Sisi wants to eventually make things better but right now it's in his interests to secure foreign aid and also convince the public there is an operation in the Sinai which is securing them.

Eventually, he will allow Hamas to operate tunnels instead of opening borders under certain conditions which they will talk about. Hamas just needs to be patient and make sure some of their politicians don't make any statements that will hurt their relations.

That's one of Hazzy's blessings. I have always had this feeling but I always repress, and I tell myself they are still our wronged Arab and Muslim fellows until Hazzy came, I couldn't take it actually, so I exploded.
