U.S. will continue to engage with Russia over Iran despite invasion of Ukraine -State Dept

You may not know that China is the world's largest oil importer and largest oil consumer. Before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Russia had signed nearly trillion US dollars of oil contracts with China. There are also hundreds of billions of natural gas and wheat contracts. These contracts stipulate that Russia will sell oil and natural gas to China at a fixed price, so no matter whether the oil price rises or falls in the future, the energy income and expenditure of the two countries are determined.

Yes, I'm aware of China's appetite for oil and its contacts with Russia. But China is not the only consumer for Russian oil. Neither is Russia the only country that China supports by purchasing oil from. The oil embargo should not be in isolation; it will work in tandem with other measures that have already been taken to the detriment of Russian currency. Infact, the west may not even have to go cold turkey on Russian oil. A levy that is targeted on cruise of Russian origin may force Russia to absorb the cost (as consumers will simply switch if Russia tried to cascade the levy). There may be other options as well. The larger goal is to leverage the unity among Western countries that is likely to last as long as Russia occupies Ukraine and use it take down Putin's image within the country. If and when such actions lead to a democratic Russia, the West can relish on a monumental strategic win

Of course, the confrontation between the EU and Russia will push the EU to USA and Russia to China.

Russia is the world's largest resource country, Russia's accession to China's economic circle will completely eliminate China's concerns about resource supply security. In addition, in order to balance USA deepen its control over the EU, the EU will certainly strengthen its relations with China. Therefore, China must be the winner of the Ukrainian war.

You are Indian, you should not worry about Russia and China, you should worry about India. China and USA have long been ready to deal with the sharp rise in energy prices, but countries such as India and Japan are not ready. China has a large number of fixed price supply contracts, and USA has shale oil and tight oil, but you have nothing, your industrial costs are bound to rise sharply. India's already blocked industrialization process is about to face a greater crisis. Soon, there will be more inflation, currency devaluation and deterioration of the investment environment in India.

BTW: The worst is not India, but Japan and South Korea. Russia has agreed to abandon Vladivostok as the export of the Sino Russian oil pipeline and change it to Daqing, China. This means that part of the oil supply of Japan and South Korea will be controlled by China.

You have simply assumed that the economic measures against Russia will forever tie Russia to China's orbit. That is precisely the outcome that the Western countries should avoid by toppling Putin and any authoritarian that may follow him. Russians are much more culturally and racially predisposed to the Europe's population than with that of China. It is only Putin's hangover of Soviet Union that puts Russia politically against Europe.

Europeans also do not like China's politics. The China EU trade deal spectacularly failed because the EU wanted to separate trade and politics; thus keeping their liberty to criticize China. This did not work as China was not able to accommodate European opinion about its political set up. Once again, the Europeans will choose US any day over China.. expect for when they want to sell luxury commodities

I'm Indian origin, but that does not mean that I spend my time worrying about the economic prospects for India. There are a billion Indians who can do that better than I. It is obvious that India's security interest is better served by a future where Russia is democratically aligned with the west. This may come to fruition if the global players play their cards right given the global sentiment in the Ukraine crisis. As a Chinese, you'd prefer to think that China will win in any eventuality. But the future is not yet written :azn:

Politics is the art of harmony and balance. Every time USA deepens its control over the EU, the EU will deepen its ties with China, for example, in 2014 and 2018. This time is no exception.

Economic relations determine political relations, and political relations determine military relations. Russia's economy is inevitably deeply bound with China. Soon, the Russian elite will become a vested interest group in Sino Russian trade. No matter who is in power in Russia, this group will ensure that Sino Russian trade will not be hurt. Do you expect trade sanctions to bring Russia to its knees? Which country has succumbed to the US trade sanctions? North Korea? Or Iran? Or Venezuela? Or Serbia?

Indians are always good at inexplicable fantasy and optimism. Doesn't reality hurt you enough? Why not learn a lesson?

This is the bottom line, Like they say in English "Its the economy stupid"

I don't think there is a limit as the how deranged the US Federal government has become; we are all in danger from these mongoloid barrels of sewage!
It's the neocon reassertion after losing in Afghanistan, it was expected.

Europeans have sought to separate trade and politics, this is apparent from unprecedented sanctions against Russia seen today. Sanctions are not targeted only against Putin, but also the elite around that support him. US is not the only country that thinks of China and Putin's Russia as an enemy today. Germany and UK have sent war ships to Taiwan region as well. The French have also called for a united Info pacific strategy. Despite the overwhelming odds against Australia, they've made it apparent of their feeling about China. If you think of all these political opposition as fantasy and not facts then :bunny:

Don't try to reach random Indian people on the Internet a lesson from a high horse. You are a nobody on the internet and so are the people whom you speak to

Anglosaxons have no limits in arrogancy. They think they are the owner of the whole planet today and tomorrow the whole solar system.

The nazi ideology was their genuine "invention", germany simply copied it. Nazi germany was defeated, but the true origin stayed untouched.
