Haha thats funny!

.
imagine war breaks out...and the Paf is giving the IAF a good fight in the western sector over kashmir...rajasthan...lahore...punjab etc...
IAF needs to achieve air-sup....PAF is holding tight...the traditionally stronger IN...has reached the outskirts of the karachi port...PN is engaged...the three aircraft carriers launch mig-29s and mig-21s and the LCA(lt's suppose we finally get it)...over southern pakistan...a nightmarish situation for the PAF...cant pull back from the west...cant let the oil depots and supply line be compromised at karachi...
aircraft carriers are force multipliers...and not just a part of an intercontinental invasion fleet..

HAHA...FIRST OF ALL OUR NAVY IS NOT SLEEPING AND WE HAV A LARGE NUMBER OF MISSILES,AIRCRAFTS,SHIPS AND SUBMARINES TO BUST UR CARRIERS.
AND SECONDLY "CHEE CHA PONG :china: "IS ALWAYS AT UR HEAD,AND WOULD NEVER LOSE A CHANCE TO KIK UR BUTT,AS UR ENGAGING CLOSE RELATINS WITH USA.:bunny:

LIVE LONG IN UR IMAGINATION WORLD:rofl:

Pakistan also has about 32 U.S. Cobra gunships in its inventory. The MI-17 can perform more missions than the Cobra, which is primarily designed to fire air-to-ground missiles, the officials said.

looking at the picture of MI-17 helo, if this is the version, its pretty cool. This MI-17 has an evident armour plate on bothe side of the pilot cabin. A hoist on left door, engine exhaust suppressor on engines (which means a countermeasure is available against IR/heat seeking missile).
The very obvious thing is the option to arm the helicopter with guns/rocket pods, as empty hard points are visible.

There is no cmparison which can be drawn between cobra nad MI-17. both helos have different role and tasks, and they cannot be considered equal. Pakistan Army requires both in their specific role, and when they 2 are integrated they become a deadly force:cheers:

Can someone explain me how I can ignore a poster? You have those kind of options so ou do not see someones post anymore. Thanks in advance.

Spot on! I'm just sick and tired of Indians posting BS on PDF. I always feel obliged to react to the Indian BS posts and so far it has even cost me my reputation. Every single topic is being derailed by the Indians. I'm going to put every Indian on ignore.LOLZ Lekker voor die Indiërs.

PS. Is there a possibility to put members from a certain country on ignore instead of having to do it one by one manually? That would certainly be very handy.

I doubt it. Take a look at China's WZ-10, that would make much more sense.

Exactly!
if Pakistan have to lease than China is better place and WZ-10 would be best value for money.

Pakistan buying useless Russian helis on lease from US!!!
It sound same like when Zardari tried his level best to import scraped buses from India on bank loans and forgot to ask local and chinese industry.

Hi,

MI 17 is an extremely versatile helicopter and has a proven track record over the many years it has been in service.

Millitary procurements are done preferably on the basis of reliability and availablitity---where a proven track record pretty much superceds anything else. Secondly---how easy is it for the pak army to itegrate the system. I believe that the pak army is already using the MI 17 for awhile now.

is, that ! the case here is , SOMETHING is BETTER thn NOTHING!

sir i do not think that it is like that!
actually dont you think that M17 is quite a fine platform that fulfil our needs!
the debat about us getting apache and all that chinook stuff is pointless! we are never going to get our hands on to those latest equipment and that too from US!!! in this case M17 is quite good! it can deleiver troops and do not need much of an escort as it can be loaded with some leathal weapons as well!
what do you think!

regards!

.
also i have searched for all the Mi17 variants but have not found a single one with a shape like the one posted in this thread:

can some one thell what the difference in shape about! the one posted in this thread have the pointed nose while Mi17 comes in round nose

thankyou

regards!

The one with a radome nose has a weather radar, in it.
Some varients of MI-17 come up with a weather radar, which is chin mounted and still, the central plexiglass panel is available for pilot/copilot vision.
Another difference in the static display Mi-17 (airship in the background), is the option of having better sand filters on engine intakes, considering operation in sandy/desert areas. Other differences are chin mounted FLIR on right side (which means capability to fire ATGM, which are aslo mounted) and a search light on left chin.
