A better understanding of history, will definitely answer your misconceptions. There are several threads on 71, tibet and kashmir on the forum

I've looked over the material and I hold no misconceptions on what occured.

The US Armies own War College's Strategic Studies Institute has a paper titled "The Lessons of History: The Chinese Liberation Army at 75" by Laurie Burkitt, Andrew Scobell and Larry M. Wortzel (pg. 335) citing that:

"The CIA had worked to develop a guerrilla effort in Tibet from the time of the Korean war, and India tacitly, and later between 1959 and 1962 more actively, supported this effort"
This is even acknowledged by Indian sources that confirm:

"India, in the late 50s and 60s with the help of the CIA aided the Tibetan rebellion, providing training facilities in India" (Indian Defence Review: Volume 23 [pg. 24])
During this period the Nehru government ran to the US begging for more:

"...aid, and economic assistance [which] grew substantially between 1959 and 1963. India also received about $60 million [$500 million in 2012 dollars] worth of military assistance from the United States, including aircraft and radar".
In the book "The False Dalai Lama: The Worst Dictator in the Modern World" by the International Shugden Community (pg. vii) those same Tibetan guerrilla fighters were later inducted into the Indian Armies Special Frontier Force to fight Pakistan in Bangladesh in 1971 as part of the Mukti Bahini terrorist organization which was created by India as confirmed by the "Indian Defence Review: Volume 23" (pg. 24) which states:

"RAW was given the task of gathering intelligence and undertaking covert missions, including pro-insurgency" and "the operation involved getting the [terrorists]... in East Pakistan (Now Bangladesh) together and training and arming them"

It's the same as the bullshit lie India peddles about being "non-aligned". The fact is that you were aligned with the USSR after signing the "Indo-Soviet Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation" in 1971 of which there are many articles signifying a clear alliance one in particular to note of would be Article IX which states:

Each High Contracting Party undertakes to abstain from providing any assistance to any third country that engages in armed conflict with the other Party. In the event of either being subjected to an attack or a threat thereof, the High Contracting Parties shall immediately enter into mutual consultations in order to remove such threat and to take appropriate effective measures to ensure peace and the security of their countries.
It's that agreement, signed just four months prior to the Indian invasion in 1971 since India was aware it was not capable of achieving victory alone, that resulted in the USSR sending its navy (including nuclear submarines) to assist in the blockade of the Bay of Bengal as confirmed by Russian naval commander Vladimir Kruglyakov who appears in the video below:

This happened to be one of the major reasons we got involved in the Afghan-USSR war in the first place resulting in us utterly demolishing it.

Very good start indeed!

From your earlier posts, Your contention was why has India supported Tibetans/Mukti bahini:

In Geo Politics, the prime objective is interests.... Alignment of interests is the building block of primary dynamics in alliances. In 1958 India's interests alligned with America vis-a-vis aid/security/intelligence. 100 years from now it might be with pakistan or china. I am sure you realize that geo politics is not a static entity, subjecting foreign policy of 1958 to 1971 will be as erroneous as in any other time frame.

Formation of Mukti-bahini had tactical and strategic objectives. Tactical objective was to stop a massive genocide (despite of the sharmila bose book that gets waved around as the gospel of truth) that was being perpetrated towards Bengali nationalists and hindus. Strategically after 1965's unilateral aggression from Pakistan, it had made East pak fair game. Thus the strategic objectives in very clear focal plane was removal of a two pronged threat. Both of the objectives were alligned to India's needs and thus the needed actions, both overt and covert were undertaken.

As for kashmir, the first starting point might as well be this:
Kashmir, Plebiscite and UN security council Resolution

More than welcome to discuss kashmir on it's own dedicated thread/s

lol.. the news is about arrest of two terror operatives and people are discussing guerrilla war in tibet, piracy in Somalia, etc...

Please delete this post man, it is maligning the reputation of freedom fighters.

Yeah i also think so because most of the terrrorists are found in Pakistan and Bhagat singh was also born in Pakistan.

You are indeed right, that relevance of non-Aligned movement started diminishing after defeat at the hands of chinese in 1962 and unilateral aggression towards india from pakistan 1965. Although NAM was a diligent initiative, with China on one hand massively arming itself and on the other side pakistan signing everything from seato cento, alarm bells were ringing in the indian administration, Post 65, india's defence policy which relied on Britain and france saw a major shift towards USSR. and yes USSR sent it's nuclear armada, to keep the mighty 7th fleet a bay which came to Pakistan's assistance. The Irony was Communist USSR helping the largest secular democracy and the Champion of the free world USA- protecting a dictatorial pakistan accused of perpetrating bengali genocide. Irony aside, this is the classic example of "interests ahead of righteousness".

That post was just a taunt to that Pakistani who called a great freedom fighter a terrorist and it perfectly landed where i wanted it to ;)
