Israeli forces kill more 52 in strikes on Lebanon BEIRUT: The Israeli attacks killed more 52 Lebanese, including eight Lebanese soldiers who were not part of the conflict on Monday, the reports said.

The death toll in the current crisis has crossed 204 in Lebanon and 24 in Israel. In Lebanon over 180 of the dead were civilians while in Israel 12 civilians have been killed.

Meanwhile Israel said it would agree to a cease-fire in its six-day-old offensive against Hezbollah if the Lebanese guerrillas withdraw from the border area with Israel and release two captured Israeli soldiers.

European Union has called upon for the peaceful solution of Middle East crisis whereas Russia and France once again have condemned Israeli forces attacks in Lebanon.

Gaza gateway reopens for humanitarian cases GAZA CITY: The Gaza Strip border with Egypt reopened on Tuesday for the first time in three weeks to allow people to cross into the Palestinian territory on a humanitarian
basis only, officials said.

The Rafah passenger terminal, which has been closed since June 25 when an Israeli soldier was abducted near the Gaza border, opened at 9:00 am (0700 GMT) and was scheduled to stay open until 7:00 pm, an EU spokeswoman said.

The head of Rafah terminal, Gaza's sole gateway to the world that bypasses Israel, confirmed that five buses had already entered from Egypt.

"It is only open to humanitarian cases and only one way Egypt to Gaza, and in principle the border will only remain open 11 hours today," spokeswoman for the EU monitors Maria Telleria told foreign news agency.

Israeli raid kills 13 Lebanese soldiers BEIRUT: Thirteen Lebanese soldiers were killed and 40 others wounded in an overnight Israeli air strike on a military base east of Beirut, a senior military official told foreign news agency on Tuesday.

"We have 13 martyrs and at least 40 others were wounded" in the air strikes on a base in Beirut's eastern suburb of Jamhour, he said.

Int’l community unduly ignoring Israeli assault: Saudi Arabia RIYADH: Saudi Arabia hit out at the limitless support being offered by certain countries to Israeli policy in a barely veiled criticism of its US ally.

The support being offered to Israel had "even blocked the adoption of a UN Security Council resolution" calling for a ceasefire in Lebanon, said a statement issued after a cabinet meeting chaired by King Abdullah.

Washington used its veto last week to block a Security Council resolution calling for end to an Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

A similar draft on Israel's onslaught in Lebanon was never put to the vote amid clear US opposition and the Security Council instead issued a statement backing a UN diplomatic mission to the region.

"The international response to the full-scale war launched by Israel... shows the laxness of the international community, which is turning a blind eye to Israeli crimes," said the cabinet statement.

"This inappropriate policy besieged the Palestinian Authority politically, economically and financially ... and led to extremism and despair," it added, referring to Western suspension of direct aid to the Authority after a Hamas-led government took power in March.

The strong comments from the cabinet against Israel's six-day-old offensive against Lebanon came after the Saudi authorities drew widespread criticism in the Arab world by joining pro-Western Egypt and Jordan in speaking out against the "adventurism" of the Hezbollah operation that sparked the Israeli action.

Jordan's king killed 4,000 Palestinians on Black September. Jordan has never been interested in Palestine, not the old genocidal neither the current Abdullah who in April last year met with Sharon and got reassurance that no Palestinians would enter Jordan if israel took over more land in the West Bank.

Egypt used to be a player in the past, but now there's absolutely no interest of military confrontation because of several reasons which ultimately have to do with their heavy US dependancy. They're 2nd largest US aid receiver after Israel, and mubarak is simply a despotic dictator.

Saudi's air force is not to deter anybody else except Iran, if anything their future eurofighters wud be used to fight Iran. the occupiers of Hijaz fear if Islamic ummah unites, then they'll be 2nd after Israel to go. A lot of arab brothers I know would rather see riyadh crumble than tel aviv due to their perversion of Islam.

37 killed in fresh Israeli air strike in Lebanon BEIRUT: Israeli warplanes battered Lebanon and killed at least 37 people while injuring several others.

During one-week Israeli assualt, as many as 250 people including women and children have been killed whereas more than 500 injured in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert accused Iran of backing Hezbollah in order to turn international community's attention from its nuclear programme. He vowed to expand Israeli offensive till the abducted soldiers are released.

72 killed in new Israeli assault on Lebanon BEIRUT: Concerns mounted over the humanitarian situation, with the United Nations warning of an impending "catastrophe" as Israel pressed on with a new wave of attacks from air and sea against southern and eastern Lebanon, killing at least 72 people, flattening houses, destroying roads and hitting trucks. While in the latest Hezbollah attack on the Jewish state, six Israelis were killed.

Israeli warplanes Thursday dropped over 23 tonnes of bombs on a purported Hezbollah leadership bunker in south Beirut. However, Hezbollah said that none of its officials or members had been killed by the massive night-time Israeli raid, which the Israeli army said was carried out by 20 planes on the site of a "bunker" it believed was used by the group's leaders.

"The truth is that the building bombarded by the enemy jets with 23 tonnes of explosives was only a mosque in the process of being built," Hezbollah said in a statement.

Thousands of terrified foreigners, mainly Westerners, were being evacuated by sea from Beirut to the neighbouring Mediterranean island of Cyprus, fleeing an offensive that has now killed 327 and displaced half-a-million people.

Lebanon's prime minister made a desperate appeal for international help after the deadliest day of the bombardment. "The country has been torn to shreds. Can the international community stand by while such callous retribution by the state of Israel is inflicted on us?," a bitter and emotional Prime Minister Fuad Siniora told foreign ambassadors.

"You want to support the government of Lebanon? Let me tell you ... no government can survive on the ruins of a nation," he said. "I hope you will not let us down. We the Lebanese want life. We have chosen life. We refuse to die."

23 tonnes worth of bombs dropped on Hezbollah's bunker BEIRUT: Israel claimed of dropping 20 tonnes worth of bombs overnight Thursday at the site of a bunker used by Hezbollah in south Beirut, while Hezbollah said it was a mosque, not bunker.

An Israeli army spokesperson said the site was used by Hezbollah leaders, refusing to disclose the identity of those targeted or the results of the raids.

Israeli military sources said that some 20 Israeli jets took part in the operation, dropping 23 tonnes worth of bombs on the site of the bunker.

However, Hezbollah said the air strike targeted an under-construction mosque where no Hezbollah leader was present at that moment.

No Israel ceasefire call before Hezbollah free soldiers: Blair LONDON: British Prime Minister Tony Blair has refused to demand that Israel stop the bombardment of Lebanon before the Hezbollah militia they are targeting release kidnapped Israeli soldiers and halt rocket attacks.

Blair was quizzed in parliament on his position on a ceasefire.

"This would stop now if the soldiers that were kidnapped wrongly when Hezbollah crossed the UN blue line were released," Blair told MPs.

"It would stop if the rockets stopped coming into Haifa deliberately to kill innocent civilians. If those two things happen... I will be the first out there saying Israel should halt its operations."

"Our influence with Hezbollah has been somewhat limited," Blair added during his weekly question-and-answer session in the lower House of Commons.

"What is happening in Lebanon is tragic and terrible, not least for the Lebanese people and for the Lebanese government that has brought its country out of the dark days into democracy.

"If it is to stop, it has to stop by undoing how it started, and it started with the kidnap of Israeli soldiers and the bombardment of northern Israel,” he said.

Israeli Troops Battle Hezbollah Guerrillas in Lebanon

BEIRUT, Lebanon — A fierce battle between Israeli troops and Hezbollah guerrillas on the Lebanese side of the border Thursday evening caused casualties on both sides as Israel warned residents to "immediatly" flee the area.

The Israeli forces did not specify the extent of the casualties suffered, but said its soldiers had entered Lebanon to hunt for weapons and Hezbollah bunker positions.

Israeli authorities confirmed to FOX News that an Israeli Cobra helicopter went down in northern Israel, not far from the border town of Kiryat Shmona. Officials said the pilot and co-pilot were killed. The cause of the crash was not known.

Meanwhile Israeli aircraft continued to bomb Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut's southern suburbs after sundown, with three loud explosions heard across the city. Earlier, planes carried out strikes in the Bekaa Valley, long considered the guerrillas' heartland.

The planes also bombed large parts of the south, from which Hezbollah guerrillas fired more rockets into Israel.

Israel on Thursday warned residents in a 20-mile stretch inside the Lebanese border to leave the area.
