Twitter campaign highlights poverty in Saudi Arabia

Poverty exists everywhere, & it's sadly quite high among the illegal immigrants in this country from Africa, & in some cases even from South Asia. I have heard that the authorities have trouble deporting them sometimes, in the case of orphans for instance; their origins may not even be known. As far as unemployment is concerned, it's true that locals face difficulty in finding jobs, & that is due to 2 main factors. Firstly, the number of immigrants is quite high so there is a lot of competition for low paying jobs. The second problem that smaller organizations face according to the reports here is that they can't afford to hire locals. In the case of labor for instance, it's cheaper for them to hire foreigners. Multinational & other established Saudi firms don't have that issue, & many locals also prefer to be employed in the public sector for added job security. In any case, the government & other foreign firms here are investing in a variety of sectors apart from the petroleum industry, & that is obviously increasing employment.

We cannot help all and I am not going to tolerate our own citizens being forgotten at the expense of foreigners who badmouth us in the same process while living in our lands. We have 1-2 of such cases on this forum.

So who are those 1-2 cases? If you are referring to the argument we had on another thread a while back, then you should note that I didn't insult any race or nationality whatsoever. In fact, all of my insults were aimed directly at you whenever you made racist remarks towards our country's ethnic groups. Go back & read that thread if you have to.

.
I am not referring to you. Besides I remember that argument and the posts you thanked so those words will not work for me. Somebozo, although he has cooled off a bit and some of his posts are worthy of reading, is one and the other I don't remember his/her name. The point is that they should be deported with such attitudes. We don't need them. Let them stay in their own countries and let their own governments help them out.

We are very generous people and famous for that but hospitality and generosity has its limits especially if it impacts our own locals or Arabs.

I don't care if those words don't work for you because I am not trying to convince you of anything. It was an argument so of course people are going to thank posts insulting their opponents. It makes no difference whatsoever, besides you made lots of racist posts on that thread yourself.

I agree that the locals should not suffer at the expense of someone else. So far, the nitaqat system has managed to reduce unemployment somewhat, but there is still a lot more to be done besides the creation of jobs.

Anyway, there is no point in resuming the argument.

Eh, anyone who insults my religion (Islam) my people (Arabs), the Arab countries I have ties to or make anti-Semitic comments will get the same treatment. Especially if they belong to a people that have little to brag about let alone are comparable to those he criticized in any way whatsoever. Besides nobody was better or worse in that discussion nor do I frankly care about it. I did not bring it up ever since unlike some others. You did it again here. Anyway there is not much I or you can do about it. It happened. It is the past now. Heated debates can happen here especially with the great amount of trolls here.

Yes, there is work to be done and the topic is quite controversial and opinions differ. Us Arab users from across the Arab world have discussed this on many occasions in various topics and my feeling was that we were largely in agreement to the solutions or adjustments.

The problem as I see it is the illegal immigrants, the sheer number of migrant workers and the fact that most do simple jobs that is/should be done by the "lesser fortunate/educated locals" like anywhere else historically.

In Western Europe/EU Eastern Europeans and other migrants are also moving to West Europe in great numbers for work and often they outsource the locals to great frustration. They also realize that this is not a healthy development.

The development in the future will be that of more educated people but there will always be a fairly big number that must stick to low-skilled work and in every country that should be done by the locals mainly rather than migrants since it is by far the most healthy solution.

are you Jewish/Israel al-hassani or is it because one of your close ancestors had jewish blood, or is it because you're pro-Israeli policies?

are you Jewish/Israel al-hassani or is it because one of your close ancestors had jewish blood, or is it because you're pro-Israeli policies?

My great-grandmother on my mothers side was a Yemeni Jewish convert to Islam with all probability. At least that is what I have been told by my mother. Her name is apparently the Yemeni Jewish version of the Jewish family name Kohen. Whether this is indeed the case I will not know for certain.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kohen

Anyway most of the Jews living in Arab lands were just Arabs/other Semites who converted to Judaism like their ancient cousins the Israelites did at one point in history many hundreds of years ago.

For example contrary to popular belief then the Banu Qurayza were not only Jews but also Arab converts to Judaism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banu_Qurayza

Adhering to Judaism is not limited to being Jewish. Many Arabs have Jewish blood without knowing it since many Jews converted to Islam and all those people in the region mixed. I have nothing against Jews. My problem are the Zionists and their policies and the politics of the Israeli state.

At the other hand I hear that the Arabs that make up 25% of Israel's population are largely satisfied with life.

But since I have never visited either Israel or Palestine I cannot comment on the ground realities since all I know are personal stories, news etc.

Besides in my viewpoint anti-Semitism is a ridicolous description because Jews barely make up 15 million people while the by far biggest Semitic group of people are us Arabs.

I know that it is mostly used against Jews in a Western context but I have seen Jews, even Jewish members here, refer to Arabs critical of Israel as anti-Semites.:omghaha:

Me being pro-Israeli is either trolling or just a little joke from your side. I have been accused of being anti-Jewish here. But no, I am not. If pro-Israeli means being a Zionist and oppressing fellow Arabs and Muslims. Then I am definitely not.

But neither am I nutcase that believes that all Jews should be killed.

Prophet Muhammad (saws) had dealings with Jews. So why can we Muslims of today not have the same?

I kind of agree with this stance. But ok, there is a difference when Zionists are involved.

Besides Jews (the real ones) are fellow Semitic people with many similarities to Arabs that are well-known. Besides being People of the Book.

I never brought up that discussion at all before now, neither did I insult Islam or any nationality or race, so don't make up false accusations. Anyway, I don't recall much about how your argument began with other members on that thread so I am not going to comment on that. I don't care about our argument on that thread either. I visit threads pertaining to Pakistan, the Middle East; especially Saudi Arabia because I live here, & other countries & topics on this forum for news & discussions quite often, so I was surprised when I saw your post; that is the reason I asked you to clarify whom you were referring to. I don't insult people behind their backs, & I am sure you wouldn't want to be insulted behind your back either. As far as insulting other countries goes, I am not going to tolerate seeing my country, people (Pakistanis), or religion get insulted either, & I can, have, & am willing to defend & fight for my country both online & offline. There were many civilizations on the land that now constitutes Pakistan, & we are proud of our history & heritage too.

Yes I know about the troubles in Western Europe, it's not just Eastern European immigrants, but people from pretty much every place on Earth that they have to accommodate. In my opinion, Britain & France are the ones facing the most immigration issues though. Combine that with the emphasis on being politically correct, & I am sure many grievances would go unnoticed. As for G.C.C countries, my views on how they should handle immigration varies according to the country being discussed.

A country like UAE for instance is more likely to stay dependent on foreigners unless they are able to increase their population dramatically. In the case of Saudi Arabia, you have highlighted the same points I did. Illegal immigrants & the vast number of low skilled immigrants are obviously the 2 major issues. Apart from that, employers need to be offered more incentives for hiring locals for low skilled jobs. Multinational firms don't really have much of a problem, people are generally hired by them on the basis of merit or in some cases nepotism.

Eh, I was referring to your friend Desert Fox that started the dissuasion by insulting Arabs. You joined him and took his side by thanking the same posts that contained those insults and lunacies that were inaccurate anyway. Besides I don't care about that individual the slightest or that discussion. I made my point back then already. He obviously made his.

Also it was you that mentioned that past discussion because you thought I was referring to you here which was not the case. So I am not to blame here.

Besides I have maybe written 10 posts in this thread and most of the posts were fairly long. Only a few lines concerned what you quoted. In fact only 1 line.

Britain and France are to blame for their own situation. They were colonial empires that colonized nations that had no ties to Europe and made them their subjects. Then they must be prepared to house people from those countries or their descendants moreover if they imposed French, their culture etc. on those colonial lands.

We Arabs also had colonial empires that predated the Europeans by hundreds of years and we encountered multi-culturalism long time ago and it even shows today in the Afro-Arabs and many other minorities in the Arab world many of whom have mixed with us for centuries. Rac

The migration to the GCC from 1960's and onward is slightly different but I see similarities in the ancient one in the way that the new arrivals integrate and become a part of the society. Although most are leaving again.

I am not going to talk on the behalf of small states such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and the bigger ones in UAE or Oman but the GCC divers from Europe in the way that passports are rarely given to people without ancestral ties to the area even to those who were born in the GCC and lived there all their lives. One can think about that what they want but I know that many Europeans now envy this system.

At the end of the day then I believe that the concept of nationhoods will decrease in the distant future and that the world will become even more global. Nationality, race, ethnic groups etc. will play a less significant role for each year as people come closer in all fields and intermarriages with people from different backgrounds are very common at least here in Europe.

I for instance know a lot of Arab/non-Arab couples/people. They create their own subculture in one way or another.

But yes, there is not much to mention otherwise I believe on this subject.

@al-Hasani I agree with your view, there are a few ungrateful in KSA who need to have jawazat knock on their doors. :P

When not on a trolling rampage and when not making false accusations about KSA, Arabs, Islam etc. Otherwise he is tolerable. But many of his past comments on those fields I mentioned are utterly ridiculous and provoking given that KSA feds him and his family and that nobody forces him to stay.

You never insult your household that provides for you and hosts you and your family. No matter if you don't agree with everything or prefer others. Firstly out of respect and most importantly because you could be in a way worse position. For example a starving Ethiopian teenager. Or some other unfortunate case.

I hear that he has changed views very often here from the more senior users.

I believe that you would have a slightly different viewpoint if he lived in India and badmouthed you as he often did and still does when talking about KSA, Arabs and Islam. As I said he cooled off and when he is not in that mood then I often enjoy reading his posts when not making wrong claims.

Anyway I don't have a real problem with any user here since I don't know them in person. I might have had some discussions or heated debates where we exchanged views, sometimes in a heated and unpleasant way but that is not going to make me "hate" them. LOL. I am not that kind of person nor do I even have the time for that. Let alone in real life.

I don't think I'd ever be able to marry an Arab ! Because she'd make me eat Hummus for breakfast, Baklava for Lunch & that Goat Stuffed With Rice thing that you guys eat for Dinner ! :bad:

I'd loose my cuisine to her ways ! :cray:

I did not even mention his anti-Islamic comments.

His style of posting is provocative but he is also responsible for quite valuable threads and post. I remember a lot of his quality post from last year.

I remember that last year he created a pallywood thread which was very much required as this forum was extremely anti-Semite.

king solomon and v cheng also were very good posters who have stopped posting now.

LOL, Buttstrong. Arab cuisine is very diverse. It depends which Arab country, region, province, city, tribe, family, city etc. you visit. From Morocco to Oman.

You should try Yemeni cuisine. I think that you would like it. It is distinct from other Arab cuisines let alone fellow Middle Eastern.

Yes, I am not saying that he is a troll I just said what I and many other Arab users and non-Arab users feel when he is trolling which happened way more often in the past. That must be said.

I remember King Solomon. The name Cheng, aside from sounding Chinese/East Asian, is not something I recall.

This forum is anti-zionist and no pallywood thread will change that, only jihadis like Zarvan want to wipe out Jews.

Bozo insults Islam here frequently despite living in the holy land of Muslims, he is lucky he still has a head quite frankly.
