Azerbijan and Turkmenistan are now talking on building a pipeline between them .

The boats are directed against Iran instead .

Turkmenistan has some problem about off-shore oil fields with Azerbaijan.
Turkmenistan cannot threat Iran, the next time, before posting, get a map and you will see that her capital has less than 50km distance from Iran's border.

Turkmenistan is a landlocked country with the only access to water being the Caspian sea which itself is landlocked. So what is the point of having a Navy ?

Caspian Sea is very big, its size alone is in the same order of Turkmenistan, in addition they need boats to fight with smugglers, and in the case of military tensions in the region, they may need them.

Well , if they want to get those ships they must get permission from Russia .as they had built a channel between Volga and another river i dont recall its name so you can drive the boats in black see and volga and that channel and you reach Caspian sea but for that you need Russia permission.

I guess you mean Volga-Don canal.
actually this canal has very limited capacity, and there is a maximum weight, size, ... limit for ships. Another option would be building the ship by Turkish engineers at Turkmenistan's shipyards.

By the way I hope you guuys are aware that its us who are digging Turkmenistan ofshore oil for them . We're building roads and powerplanet for them . So I guess those are not geared toward us.



About the boats. I say they are good one but honestly those man pads are just additional cost for Turkmenistan that I dont think serve anything . They had a range about 5 to 6 km while every self respecting army equip its helicopters and airplanes with antiship missiles with a range of at least 20 to 30 kilometer .
If I were instead of the military planners of Turkmenistan I would have asked for some more anti submarine capabilities or some torpedoes instead of them

Turkmenistan has huge oil and gas reserves, a lot of which are located in contested areas of the Caspian sea. Other than this, the Turkmen economy relies on agriculture. Naturally, as the Azeri-controlled reserves decline in output (Peak-oil theory and backed by statistics), Azerbaijan will attempt to find new reserves.

Did you added the fields that contested with Iran in that estimation or its just the field that belong to Azerbaijan.

Because the last time Azerbaijan wanted to do anything with those fields we stopped them.

You had the second most powerful navy, after commissioning of Damavand frigate Iran will have the second most powerful navy, Iran plans to build two or three more Moudge frigate and several Sina class missile boats

1 Damavand Frigate - 1500 tons- 76mm gun, 4 noor missiles, standard missiles, 40mm gun, 2x3tube 324mm torpedos, 2x20mm gun(launched several mouths ago and will be commissioned in a few mouths) - more planned
1 Hamzeh corvette - 580 tons - 20mm gun, 4 noor missiles
3 Sina class(copy of la combattante 2) - 265 tons - 76mm gun, 4 noor missiles, 40mm gun(more under construction)
