As you know, just a few days ago Russia announced that Russia’s missile tracking system (also known as early-warning system) detected the launch of two ballistic rockets in the central Mediterranean. Until Russia announced this lunch, we were unaware these launches (at least publicly). The biggest problem and concern here is that were we also able to detect these launches too or not? Thinking the circumstances we face today the possibility of not being able to detect the ballistic test launches really scares me. I know that Aselsan has been working on new radar systems but we really need a strong early warning system to control our region.

Another important thing caught my attention is that the increasing collaboration between the US and Israel on the Eastern Mediterranean. Our interests on the region have been challenged by Israel for many times. Today the Eastern Mediterranean is an important strategic area. I believe my must develop a strategy to tackle this challenge. What do you think guys? Let us hear your thoughts.

Dont see Israel as a treat, they will never be an enemy to us(even with Erdogan)for obvious reasons.
We are covered by NATO(US) early-warning systems.
I would say dont worry to much.

No arrow missile was launched yesterday, only test for Silver sparrow, what Russian saw was the separation of warhead and motor, that is why they saw two targets, the illustration is false.

This is the radar Russian saw with the missile:

Kurecik is not ours my friend. it is US radar.

I did not say Israel will be our enemy. I said Israel challenges our interests in the Eastern Mediterranean. And do not talk for sure there is no allies but interests. Noone knows what is gonna happen in the future.

I am talking about our own radar system. You are talking about US radar. We must develop our own early-warning system for sure.

It does not matter what was launched. What it matters is two missiles fired and if we were able to detect them. That is the question.

We are developing our own early-warning systems(theres a sticky thread about it)untill then we rely on NATO((US)ystems.
There are so many things we dont have yet,but we are on the way, becoming independent on military issues.
No allies but interests?
You allways need allies, interests we have with countries like Russia,Iran.
Allied are we with NATO,Pakistan,Azerbaijan (Israel was before Erdogan)etc.
You cant exist alone in the world, even the US has allies.
Does the US need any allies?
No but still allied to some countries.

No! one Silver Sparrow missile was released from F-15, after the release at high altitude the missile ignite rocket motor and gain even more altitude and begin to simulate ballistic missile, after reaching desired altitude the buster and warhead are separated, both of them have ballistic trajectory, that is what Russian managed to pick up, Only one missile was active!

Bro, we can't trust third party like NATO's early warning system, all we should do is to trust our own technology and alert system. Russia was the first to inform us, US/Israel shocked by this annoucement. In my opinion, it could be US to shut down NATO/Turkey's warning system to keep silences.

It's a NATO radar, we have partial control, we have officers serving in the very HQ where all the systems are commanded from. Turkish Air Force has a continuous data stream and we are monitoring a very wide area through there.

C'mon man, nobody fires two ballistic missiles at once. :)

don't tire your little head over these technical matters, it'll be best for everyone that you stick with religious bullcrap ...I mean studies :) and conspiracy theories.

Quick emotional response, let me report it.

Do you have information based on your NATO radar between British/Turkey? Which one we should believe?

BREAKING: British Typhoons in near clash with Turkish jets over Cyprus

September 3 2013

British and Turkish fighter planes nearly clashed over the skies of Cyprus yesterday after two Typhoon Eurofighters scrambled from Akrotiri airbase.

Details remain unclear, but informed sources said the Typhoons, which are part of a total of six aircraft sent to the RAF Akrotiri airbase for possible actions against Syria, flew over the Turkish occupied part of Cyprus to intercept unidentified planes.

According to reports, Turkey sent two F-16 fighters to intercept the British planes claiming they violated the airspace over the occupied part of Cyprus.

A statement from the British Bases authorities said that "The MOD can confirm that Typhoon Air Defence Aircraft operated from RAF Akrotiri on Monday to investigate unidentified aircraft to the East of Cyprus; the aircraft were flying legally in international airspace and no intercept was required."

Defence Minister Fotis Fotiou also confirmed that the incident took place, with informed sources saying that the government requested an explanation from British authorities.

They said the Typhoons took off after radars detected suspicious flights in the area of the occupied city of Famagusta.

A a squadron of F-16 fighter jets have been based at at Turkish airstrip in northern Cyprus since 2011, however it is understood the Turkish jets took off from Incirlik air base in Turkey, in order to intercept the British planes.

Turkish Cypriot media reports that the British planes had returned to Akrotiri by time the Turkish jets arrived in northern Cyprus airspace.

The incident comes at a moment of heightened tension in the region. On Sunday, Britain said they would keep six RAF Typhoon jets in the Mediterranean in case Syrian president Bashar al-Assad retaliates against any American-led attack.

A Royal Navy cruise missile-carrying submarine, which was due to take part in any forthcoming operation, is also likely to remain for now.

It seems you did not get what I meant. "There is no allies (also friends version you may have heard) but interests" belongs to a British PM, Henry Temple. When I say there is no allies but interests I meant you may have allies to day but tomorrow those allies can be your enemies as history taught.

That is good but still I am not convinced about our radar capability to cover not only our whole territory but also the region. Radar technology is our one of the lacking fields so we need to develop a good radar technology. Considering the region we live in, radar technology a must for us.
