UAE foreign policy is way too over ambitious. Just last year their foreign minister was making threats against Pakistan for refusing to participate in the Yemen war, knowing full well that Pakistan is a democracy and the Pakistani parliament voted against intervention in a foreign war. This attempt coup inTurkey is another one of these failed attempts that eventually backfire and make the UAE lose respect and credibility in the region.

Main opposition CHP urges gov’t to remain neutral in ongoing Gulf row

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has urged the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) to remain neutral in an ongoing diplomatic crisis of a number of Arab nations’ cutting ties with Qatar on June 5.

“Turkey should not take sides between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Our basic policy in the Arab world should be avoiding being a part of the ongoing wars. To take a side means to be a side in the problem. To be neutral will mean becoming a part of the solution,” Kılıçdaroğlu said in parliament on June 6.

A group of Arab nations led by Saudi Arabia and Egypt cut ties with Qatar on June 5, accusing the gas-rich Gulf country of supporting extremism, while a number of regional and global actors, including Turkey and the U.S., called for dialogue to resolve the dispute.

Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and the Maldives joined the duo in severing relations with gas-rich Qatar, accusing Doha of harboring “terrorist and sectarian groups that aim to destabilize the region including the Muslim Brotherhood, Daesh [Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – ISIL] and al-Qaeda.”

“Qatar should stop supporting the Muslim Brotherhood,” Kılıçdaroğlu said, adding that the AKP government should refrain from “a politics that would support the Muslim Brotherhood on that subject.”

“The AKP is supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, the leader of the AKP has been the first [to do that]. It is very dangerous. They should immediately cease their support,” he said.

Kılıçdaroğlu criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for frequently making the “Rabia” hand gesture.

The “Rabia” gesture became popular among sympathizers of the Muslim Brotherhood around the world. It was named after Rabia Square in Cairo, which was the site of a brutal crackdown against mass protests against the coup d’etat that overthrew former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.

“AKP should quit making the Rabia hand gesture,” he said.

“Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are all regarding the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, and yet [Erdoğan] makes this gesture the AKP’s symbol. It is neither local nor national. You [Erdoğan] have brought the four-fingered gesture of a terrorist organization and have made it a symbol,” he said.

Morsi, the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, was imprisoned for a mass jail break during the 2011 uprising against former President Hosni Mubarak and sentenced to life for spying on behalf of Palestinian group Hamas.

Erdoğan had previously defended the Rabia gesture, saying: “The Rabia gesture emerged after Morsi was imprisoned. I use the gesture, but to say one nation, one flag, one country and one state. At the same time it means Esma,” he said, referring to an 18-year-old girl who was killed in Rabia Square.

The values of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) are “rapidly weakening,” former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has said, commenting on a file that emerged online in 2016 that called for the resignation of several figures from the AKP.

“We witnessed an incident called the ‘Pelican Briefing.’ Unfortunately, this was done against many figures from the AKP,” Davutoğlu said in an interview on the Kanal 24 TV station.

The “Pelican Brief” was an anonymous Wordpress blog post that was published online on May 1, 2016, written by a man who claimed to be a staunch supporter of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It alleged that Davutoğlu had “betrayed” Erdoğan by not pushing hard enough for the executive presidential system and also by “collaborating with the West and its Trojan horses [inside Turkey] who want to topple the chief.”

Davutoğlu resigned several days later, leaving his post to Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım.

“The AKP is rapidly weakening its own values. Reputation assassinations are being conducted. What saddened us most was the silence of our friends on the issue,” Davutoğlu said, adding that similar attempts were being directed at the head of the Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet), Mehmet Görmez.

Meanwhile, Davutoğlu and former Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç did not attend an iftar fast-breaking meal hosted by Prime Minister Yıldırım in Ankara on June 5.

Yıldırım had sent an invitation to former AKP lawmakers who were on duty between the 22nd and 26th terms for the iftar meal. Some 1,200 guests attended the event and two seats were reserved at Yıldırım’s table for Davutoğlu and Arınç but they were left empty.

Also on June 5, an Ankara court ordered the arrest of Arınç’s son-in-law, Ekrem Yeter, after police detained him as a part of an ongoing investigation into the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), widely believed to have been behind the failed July 15, 2016 coup attempt.

OP: I believe it's important to hear out what guys like Ahmet Davutoglu (AD) has to say they were after all trusted ministers during AKP beginning and their strategy (not RTE) made great impression on the world.

Now some ppl may choose to slander these leaders, but you have to look at the character of these people and think what their ulterior motive is. I believe it is explained in the article.

I watched a documentary on China recently and it's not difficult to see similarities on how great leaders act when they feel threatened. I recommend people to watch "The Passion of Mao" (https://dvd.netflix.com/Movie/The-Passion-of-the-Mao/70100336).

You don't have to believe what AD says, but looking at the people left in AKP and who the ministers are you can easily see that AKP has lost a lot, current PM even has the audacity to say that he is proud to hand over leadership to RTE. Personally I have never seen him as a PM potential, and his statement just proves that he's a puppet for RTE.

It's definitely going to be interesting from now on, and let's see if RTE will accept not being reelected or will he hang on to that power with everything he can.

Hacked emails of UAE ambassador reveal alleged role in Turkey coup attempt

The emails allegedly stolen from the inbox of the Yousef Al- Otaiba, the United Arab Emirates' ambassador to the United States, revealed on Saturday the close relationship between al-Otaiba and a pro-Israel, neo-conservative think tank the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD).

The Intercept reported that the emails were hacked and distributed by a group calling itself "GlobalLeaks" tying themselves to DCLeaks, a website that previously released Democratic National Committee emails. According to the report, the hackers used a .ru email address, associated with Russia.

The hacked emails show that Otaiba has been in frequent contact with the neo-conservative think tank FDD, which is funded by pro-Israel billionaire Sheldon Adelson, an ally of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In one of the emails obtained by the Intercept, FDD senior counselor John Hannah, a former deputy national security advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney, sent Otaiba an article claiming that both the UAE and FDD were responsible for the July 15 military coup attempt in Turkey, saying he is "honored to be in the UAE's company."

Hannah previously published an article on the Foreign Policy titled "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Erdoğan?", in which he suggested that the Turkish military would turn on Erdoğan to "save" Turkey.

In another email, Hannah tells Otaiba that Qatar, another Gulf state that the UAE is at odds with, is hosting the Palestinian movement Hamas at an Emirati-owned hotel.

Otaiba says that it's not the Emirati government's fault, and that the real issue is the U.S. military base in Qatar, "How's this, you move the base then we'll move the hotel :-)."

The emails also includes the proposed agenda of an upcoming meeting between FDD and the UAE government on June 11-14, in which the atendees are set to discuss Turkey, Qatar and Muslim Brotherhood.

Those who are attending including FDD CEO Mark Dubowitz, Hannah and Jonathan Schanzer, FDD vice president for research were expected to discuss issues like "Implications of Erdoğan's executive presidency", "Al Jazeera as an instrument of regional instability" and "discussion of possible U.S./UAE policies to positively impact Iranian internal situation."

Hamas is a Terror Organisation. They will be pain in the butt in future for Turkey. If Palestine wants to defend itself, they better create one official armed militia under government control.

Already they are under the government control because they selected by Palestinian people, isnt it ?

It isn't. It is not a government army, it is a political party militia. Do you realise how weird is that? You don't dare to give opposite vote in election or you will face with that political party's armed militia o_O

Same like PKK. When AKP gave South-East to PKK, HDP votes jumped incredibly, because people had no other choices. They whether vote for HDP to live freely, or face with PKK's consequences.

Government Army means, they have no connection with any political party, and they will obey any order came from Government and it doesnt matter which political party holds the government.

Hamas is a bloody terror organsiation which benefits from Palestinian issue.

i see, but as i understand Palastenian people doenst fine with government and its policies, they must be think government and Mahmood Abbas as puppet of Israel, thats why a lot of people still supporting Hamas. it is a deep issue and hard to solve i think.

Other side we can think Hamas as Independence movement against israel, because israel allways violate of Palastine rights.
