You're differentiating between them too much as if they're completely different, they originate from the same root. It started with 'Al Qaeda in Iraq', this developed to some other groups like the shura council. Eventually somewhere in 2006 they declared the establishment of Islamic State Iraq (ISI), only recently they grew apart from AQ. Which doesn't matter much because they originate from the same roots.



If you could defend your borders IS would't have thousands of foreign recruits and ammonium nitrate to blow up everything they come across. You see how it works both ways.

I don't see relations with Iraq being repaired easily, add in influence from Iran and rise of 'shia' stuff and it's long gone.

If you look on Twitter the people who say that Euphrates Shield rebels are sold out mercenaries are all PKK, Assad, and Daesh accounts. Don't repeat enemy propaganda. The Euphrates Shield rebels are mainly from N. Aleppo country side, they are taking back their homes from terrorists with TR support. It's a win win for rebels and TR.

Another propaganda is that TR and RU made a deal to hand over Aleppo to Assad. Aleppo's only hope is Euphrates Shield and the rebels know that because they have no other option for relief.

You have to be smart, the propaganda war is continuing on social media. Don't just fall for it.

Aleppo has already fallen. Ever since the rebels failed to break the siege several weeks ago they were on the defence while the SAA was on the offence. Their counter attack failed miserably and the SAA was able to take even more land in western Aleppo in their own counter attack, strenghtening the siege even more. In just two days rebel held areas was halved. Its over, SAA won this one. The best deal the rebels will be able to get now is "Green busses" aka transportation to Idlib.

you shouldn't take erdogan words seriously, as long as russia controls the skies over syria. Turkey wouldn't target syrian goverment...

That isn't the problem, the problem is when Erdogan tries to use a void, to say stuff that can bite him back badly.. in this situation, if Trump decides that the US will pack its bags and leave Syria for Russia.. then, Erdogan will be in a funny place... where he cant move forward, or go back on his words... If it needed Turkey could easily completely annex the remnants of Syria within 4 weeks or so, but not with half-baked actions and half-decided maneuvers... either all in, or all out sort of situation.

We are not the Gendarmanie of the world. As long as we remove IS and PKK, that is enough for us.
