Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

I remember someone posting in here nearly had a fit because TSK didn't move out when he wanted it. Guess waiting was the best option huh ? :D

Guess it's solid proof that politics and operations move hand in hand in this region.

Menagh air base is a great spot for a permanent Turkish Armed forces base in Northern Syria

Getting Menagh along with Afrin is the crown jewel of this operation.

If Turks can reopen the runway even better..

why would we want to open it when Diyarbakir is close by ?

Even Russian jets have been bombed and shelled at their base in Latakia, so its definitley better to keep them out of range in Diyarbakir.

Also we're not the US and occuyping and building bases all over the country.

Well, the Russians needed an airbase in Syria, so they'd have to open one. But I don't see any need for use to open an airbase and "present" a target for terrorists. it's better imo to fly back and land in either Diyerbakir or another base.
