Turkish Naval Programs

If it's not a UAV like this one forget anything on TCG Anadolu, besides rotarycraft UAV.

Currently all Turkish Navy ships have point defence capability. Is Turkish navy interested in area defence capability?

I was wondering if Navy purchased SM2, Smart s mk2 Radar could be connected with SM2?

Australian Navy upgraded their PERRY class frigates with sm2 , using old AN/SPS 49 radar.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adelaide-class_frigate
The Government of Australia has requested a possible sale of 17 SM-2 Block IIIB STANDARD
Warhead Compatible Telemetry missiles, including AN/DKT-71 Telemeters and assembly kits, spare
and repair parts, technical data and publications, personnel training and training equipment, U.S.
government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and other related
elements of logistics support. The estimated cost is $46 million.
TN also have Perry class frigates but we replaced their an/sps 49( L band) with smart (s band) . Now we using with ESSMs but They don't allow area defence.

My question is new Turkish x band naval radar and old L band sps49 would be used in Perry class frigates?

All credits to @Saithan
New x band radar would work with ESSMs and RAM for point defence, L band an/ sps49 would work with SM2 for area defence. Although Sm2 using semi-active guidance system , still great for large are defense. Latest sm2 blocks have 120 mile range. Also L band radar covers 300miles.
That's why some air defence frigates use two radars.

Just with additional 50 million dollar could we have 3-4 large area air defence frigates? Also our LPD needs area air defence cover.
Edit: again another question:
Should TCG Giresun and other Perry class frigates have smart mk2 S band radar instead of new x band radar plus old L band radar combination? Shouldnt Turkish Navy have removed AN/sps 49 from Perry class ship? Meko class would use smart s if Perry have kept old radars.

Half-Life Modernization Project will bring second radar to Barboros class frigates. Its fvckng great.

Smart S plus MAR-D X band radar in one ship. They seem to be great air defence platform. What a pity those frigates need more serious SAM than ESSM. At least aster 30.

Smart S will be moved onto first mast with EW and ES pod, at the back will be MAR-D .

Yes MLU will include MAR-D.

Weird how it isn't used on the I-Class but they included it for MLU of the Barbaros.

Both use ESSM. So why no MAR-D for I-Class?

Maybe it is necessary for Gökdeniz? But then again I-Class is gonna be equipped with Gökdeniz too.

Gokdeniz also has own STIR..
AFAIK X band radar signals very tight for point defence however it means Smart S band isnot as efficient as X band??
I really wonder if Smart S could work with SM2.

Raytheon restarted the production line and even test fired one this year again if I'm not mistaken. Maybe we can ask if we can have some for I-Class, I don't expect a positive answer but asking doesn't hurt. :D

Sm2 for modernized Gabya class frigates with smart-s , is it late?

Edit: i don't know if all gabya class frigates are upgraded. Are there any old variants?

Last, four ships of this class F-491 TCG Giresun, F495 TCG Gediz, F-496 TCG Gökova, F-497 TCG Göksu, are going to receive 8 cell Mk41 vertical launcher system in addition the existing Mk13 launcher and a new Thales SMART-S Mk2 3D radar instead of the AN/SPS-49(V)4 radar. The Mk92 STIR Mod2 fire control system of these four ships will be upgraded to Mod12 level.

I stated since starting of barbaros mlu. This for deployment of long range sam . Looks like navy want a use barbaros claasses like stop gap light air defence frigate .

But there is one small problem on here; 16 vls isnt enough. Maybe we can add a 8-16x vls behalf of front ciws or side of aft vls . Or maybe siper is a doublepack missille
