Dude it won't be any cheaper just because it's fired from a vertical tube instead of a VLS

I think the most important reason why VLSs are prefrred these days is the versatility. You can launch a large variety of missiles from a mk41 vls. They are also easier to reload I think.

I think Vertical Launching Systems for Frigates and Corvettes. Artilery rocket engine and fuel diifferent from Harpoon. Maybe for the artillery rockets, you need more complexed and more expensive launcher. Please notice that idea of cheap navalized artilery rockets with range 100km , please dont notice that launcher or ship or etc. If from VLS's of Turkish Corvettes or Frigate can launch artillery rockets it's great Has somebody tried it yet?

Last time, what's strange in this ship? I offer that: cheap ship(not nuclear powered USSR cruiser) with GPS guided cheap rockets( Harpoon and SOM=1million$) against cheap enemies(yes we have have a lot of).

Edit: I suggested only GPS guided rockets!! They must be only gps guided but cheaper than Harpoons.

oh pelase, I didn't mean to offend to start with, I do think an artillery rocket could probably be adapted to a vls if it can be guided by ship's systems.

What makes artillery rockets cheap is that they are simple
single stage, solid fuel, no guidance and no gimbals AFAIK

An unguided missile is unacceptable in today's navies and it's not possible to aim with the vls
single stage and solid fuel... I think those characteristics could be preserved.
It'd be like a ship-launched SRBM

MLRS Ships must be nearly and work frigates or corvettes. They must hide it.

The term "MLRS Ship" might be a bit over thinking mate. But I think what you roughly try to mean is a concept that had been proposed before which is what we used to call "arsenal ship".

There's no legal jurisdiction internationaly over the armament control in Cyprus. We can station as many as weapons/armor as we wish just as we can put as many soldiers we would please to. But this one can also decrease the length of defensive layers of the Iranian Navy, therefore it limits the response time and evaluation. But yeah its sneaky of FACs as the history has shown

But to be honest I'd like my 21st century FAC to be at least big enough to have a phalanx on board and it's not just "food" for enemy sea hawks and stuff

Rather like a sneaky dolphin I'd say . Note that first ever kill of sea launched anti-ship missiles was by a FAC belonging to Egypt. They sunk an Israeli destroyer off the coast of Sina Peninsula which has a similar environment as I mentioned.

They are no food. As you know they are also armed with twin-forty and 76mm guns for self defense. But putting a Phalanx CIWS mean stationing a platform half the price of the ship itself. Once it gets hit (FACs have very less chance of survival from a one wave missile attack), it'll turn tactical defeat into a small scale strategic defeat. Besides, that's not what they're made of neither they have a hull long enough that needs Phalanx/Goalkeeper/AK-130 CIWS instead of the twin barrell 40mm.

But our national approach on such class of vessels are changing as we see on the details of proposed designs for New Turkish Type Assault Boat.

No, Navy (ships and submarine) has only Harpoons for ground attack.

Why Turkish navy doesn't need ground attack capacity?
Only Turkish Air Force with SOM and Guided Bombs enough?

Pelase tell me, why arent gps artillery rockets usefull on the ship?
When they are land based, they are very effective, we must have but when they are at sea not!
Because of the salt water? Or we dont need attack to some country? Or rockets have short range? Or our ships, frigate and corvettes not able to pick this type of rockets. They are only for defence? Or world war storyies or seawar doctrines have no place for ground attack(for example radar stations, rocket bases) from ships?
T300 and Toros rockets have 100km range and they gps guiding systems. They are great.

I'm fine with Kılıç class being armed with twin 40ies... so there's atl least SOME defense

If I remember correctly, a naval version of SOM will be developed. But currently, we use our main guns for land targets if the situation arises. (that situation is most likely an amphibious landing operaiton so direct fire is .)

I always like to speculate about the possibility and all round utility of putting a GMLRS on one of her Majesty’s War Canoes

I am not alone either.

A post Libya Janes Defence Weekly reported on a Royal Navy lessons learned document in which the two major shortcomings were a lack of precision land attack capability and organic unmanned ISR.

Janes quoted Colonel Pierson RM, the Deputy Director of NATO Operations in Libya;

It was evident that the Libya campaign showed the need for precision fires, [perhaps the Lockheed Martin] Guided Multiple Rocket Launch System (GMLRS), from the sea base, deep into enemy littoral territory.

We have discussed this many times.

I think this is rather a large deficiency and would enable a reduction in reliance on air power to deliver over the shore attack.

Of course, we are as poor as church mice with a Wonga loan so any development costs of putting GMLRS onto a frigate, destroyer or even amphibious vessel would increase the overall programme cost significantly. Others have pointed to exhaust gas management and corrosion as being significant barriers.

We have also discussed how the Army Fire Shadow Loitering Munition would have a great deal of maritime utility (I think more than in a land environment) and whether the Type 26 and associated programme for a medium calibre gun system with precision munitions could fill the gap.

With these in mind I thought I would just throw in an of off the shelf system for discussion.

IMI TRIGON
The TRIGON is a large system. The rocket has a diameter of 306mm compared to the 227mm of the MLRS/GMLRS although much smaller than the 610mm ATACMS. It must be noted that the ATACMS can use the standard MLRS/GMLRS launch modules

TF2000 is almost detailed out, the most important part (center of the frigate system) is the placement of the radar structure.

Aselsan has made 3 radar mast configuration proposals to be chosen from:

1. All radars integrated into one mast (like the Thales i-mast)
2. conventional setup with longrange search radar at the backside and multifunction radar + ECM + satcom in the front mast
3. Longrange radars integrated into the hull (like AEGIS)

There will be a 64 cell VLS system
